I think that Casper Van Dien (Johnny Rico) from Starship Troopers would of also been a great Captain America. He has the look and profile of a Kirby drawing of Cap!! What do you think…Would you like to know more?

I think the very cool thing to remember is that the heroes are finally pumping it out into the movies big time!! This world does need them!! …

I wonder if Marvels Jack (King) Kirby and Stan (the man) Lee would have ever dreamed this day would come!! …Sad that Jack did not live to see all this come to pass!!…AN AMAZING TALENT INDEED!!

I would of liked to see Cap with the “wings” on his helmet though. Iron man did call him winghead after all…NUFF SAID!!

Yes, you’re right. That just shows you how much money Marvel was willing to invest into the most recognizable and important figure of the Avengers. Sad, isn’t it?

Actually, the only actors I’ve bashed that Marvel has picked have been Affleck as Daredevil and Cage as Ghost Rider. And we both know how much critical acclaim those two flicks received.

Unlike the rest of Evans’s fanboys, I don’t give a damn about your stupid “Sunshine” — a movie that garned a “barely fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes and raked in a mere 3.4 million at the box office.

The logic behind his selection as the leader of the Avengers is absolutely ludicrous. Again, you get what you pay for. Mark my words, this movie will be lambasted by critics; but no doubt it will make money. It’s a shame it won’t be able to do both.

But take my words with a grain of salt, I’ve only been right about every Marvel movie, so far.

Posters look cool, though. And in Thor’s case, I hope we do see his winged helmet at some point during the movie.

Evan has been able to serious roles before and he’ll do fine as Cap. Besides, at that point in WWII Cap was in his early 20′s. If anything, he’s a fine choice for Cap and the choices for Skull and Bucky are great as well.

Of course you are clearly bias and you would bash any actor they’d pick.

And no Marvel shouldn’t, because there isn’t a “Moral decline”( Talk about hyperbole).

Who cares?

Sure, the East (including our forefathers)have always predicted the West’s decline. And if Cap were a man in our world today, he WOULD believe as you do: that America HAS effortlessly eroded. Heck, not only would he would want to do something about it, but he would rally us to chime in, too!

After all, this is how Cap has always been portrayed in comic books: as a protector and savior — a patriarchal, unaging, reminder of how we as Americans should be and live our lives. As fans, why wouldn’t we want the essence of what has always made Cap so great to be portrayed on screen regardless of the state of the world we live in? Wouldn’t we want a Captain America portrayed in a way that gives us AND the rest of the world cause to look in the mirror, to give us hope and dreams of unity — for that something more deep down inside that we should all aspire to? I know that’s what Cap’s comic book creators would want.

What’s more, despite their steep moral decline over the last ten years under Quesada’s reign, shouldn’t Marvel, too?

Is “stoic”, “dignified”, and “immutable in moral character” how Americans still view themselves?

Really? Even in 2010?

Have you taken a good look at what type of athlete Americans champion, or what type of so-called “hero” they look up to today? What their behavior is like towards other nations, or even what their behavior is like towards each other?

Cap might have been a fine mascot for Reagan’s America, but that was several decades ago. The America you’re talking about has fallen several pegs, and been replaced by snarky, overweight people who champion individual success, regardless of the cost to the greater whole.

LeBron James, BP, McDonald’s, Lindsay Lohan… this is your America today. So I dunno about you, but a snarky/smarmy Captain America flashing a wink and plastic smile seems to fit right with all of the above.

Unhappy about it? Good. Do something about it. Rebuild America into the country the rest of us used to look up to. Because believe me, my friend… it’s a long, long ways from living up to its own opinion itself.

You mean you’ve never seen him in Sunshine?

The guy has played plenty of roles without the smarm charm. I think, like Heath Ledger’s Joker, this guy is going to surprise us all on this one.

You mean you’ve never seen Evans off-screen? Trust me, he’s NOT acting. His personality is just like Ryan Reynolds’s — the smarm charm is always on.

He played a great Johnny Storm because he IS Johnny Storm. Captain America he is not.

It’s a shame because I’m more of a Green Lantern guy and after seeing some of the promos and suit for GL, I’ve lost all my enthusiasm for the film.

If that’s all it takes to worry you, you lead a pretty charmed life, and should thank God every morning for the good fortune of waking up to it.

Also, Cap should be carrying a submachine gun or a stolen MP-44.
