Evan “Doc” Shaner wants to draw the Marvel Family.

Over at Evan “Doc” Shaner’s blog, he has a post from about three weeks ago with a rendetion of DC’s Marvel family, sans the Wizard.

“If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I spend at least half of my time thinking about Captain Marvel and the whole Shazam-verse,: says Shaner on his blog. “This is the first time I’ve drawn Mary Marvel, but I’m a big fan of the whole cast. I’d really love a chance at the book someday.”

Probably one of the coolest all-ages books out there right now is Billy Batson and the Magic of SHAZAM!, and while the creative team is spoken for at the moment, what say you readers: do you think Shaner has the bolts to be on a Captain Marvel book?

I wouldn’t want Evan on that book, because it’s already being handled so well by Mike Norton, but I’d love to see him drawing a completely different Shazam family book. I’d love to see him drawing a lot of books though.

Hm. He draws the family good but there couple of problems. There is only the way kiddie book I’m not a fan of and then there is mess the regular DCU family has been made by Johns, Morrison, and company. DC keeps saying there are plans but lets see we are still waiting on that.

Not sure what the above complaint was actuallt about, but yes t.othe question. I am one of Doc’s biggest fans and hope one of the big three get wise to him soon. He is a Toth acolyte with a style reminiscent of Darwyn Cooke. It’s getting time for a call-up. That’s baseball lingo. He’ll like that.

  4. Kyle Latino Says:

Yes, Shaner should absolutely be on the SHAZAM franchise in some way or another. And not because his line-work is “all ages”, it’s because it’s damn fine stuff.

  5. Pól Rua Says:

Most definitely. I’ve been following ‘Doc’s work for awhile, and he has exactly the right, light-hearted, clean-line timeless style for a Captain Marvel book.
Not that I’m not digging the hell out of Mike Norton’s work on ‘Billy Batson’ right now.
