Again, another day, another inane “So Super Duper” post. Please. I think of all the high-minded discussion of comics as art… and then I read this crap. Shame.

Another day, another installment, and the requisite “this comic is crap” comment. It’s a shame to think every thing must be equally entertaining to us or its crap. Try scrolling past something that doesn’t validate your personal tastes. It’s possible.

I just wish it was posted more often…

Joe Palmer, is nothing ever objectively bad? Is every piece of art “good to SOMEONE”???

    Hi, Captain Trips and Liam,
Sure, some thing can be bad. Art can be bad. A lot of stuff that’s passed off as modern art is pure crap, no matter what the concept of it is.

And yeah, every piece of art is good to someone, even if it’s the one artist who made it. It isn’t a line to excuse crap. The first time I saw J H Williams art was in a mini series from Milestone back around 1995, called Deathwish. I thought the art was crap, so much that I didn’t buy the rest of it (and only read it last year for other reasons). If Williams hadn’t kept drawing, trying harder, comics would be without a really great artist today. At least that’s my opinion.

And there’s no way to prove the following, but when I was an art student at the Art Institute in Chicago (the real one attached to the famous museum), I was one of the few students who’d say a piece of work was shit in class critiques.

No, I’m not saying I think Brian Andersen is of the same caliber as Williams.

Liam, thanks for the “crap apologist” title, but I’ve been called worse. Go back and re-read my comment. I didn’t make an excuse for Andersen. Truth be told, he probably doesn’t give a damn about me and I’m perfectly okay if that’s the case.

My comment was about the attitude that a free website should only host material that meets someone’s specific if undefined needs for entertainment and the seeming need to write crap about what he/she thinks is crap (objectivity/ subjectivity aside).

So I guess this makes me a crap apologist still. Couldn’t care less.
