Eduardo Barreto to Leave Judge Parker

Author Russ Burlingame

Eduardo Barreto, the longtime Marvel and DC Comics artist who took over art chores on the long-running strip Judge Parker in 2006, has left the strip for health reasons, The Washington Post reports. Strip writer Woody Wilson (who also writes Rex Morgan, MD) says that Barreto, who has meningitis, has said that he won’t be able to draw for the foreseeable future. John Heebink, who has filled in for Barreto in the past, is the temporary replacement, but King Features tells the Post that they are looking for someone to take over the strip permanently.

The title says “Eduardo Barreto to Leave Judge Morgan,” not Judge Parker. Understandably, the titles do tend to blur together looks wise.

Thanks for pointing that out. The headline was added last, after I’d already written “Rex Morgan” once, so that didn’t help either…but I feel bad because it’s a serious story and we didn’t give it a ton of space (not much to say that wasn’t said already in the POST article).

So sad Barreto is ill. Hope he gets better, I like his art.

Really, really missing Eduardo’s art on Judge Parker (and it’s only been a week). The new artist needs to get it together, quickly.

I hope he can return to drawing Judge Parker, he was GREAT at it.

But, most of all, I hope he regains his FULL health.
