Wait a minute — Hector Hammond’s DAD appears in the Green Lantern movie?
According to the Heat Vision Blog, that’s exactly what’s going to happen, with Tim Robbins playing the role of Senator Hammond, Hector’s disapproving father.
Does this feel a little bit like overkill to you? Like, one of those reactions to Anthony Hopkins joining the cast of Thor? Either which way, this’ll be an interesting choice — last comic book movie that Robbins starred in was Howard the Duck.
And the less said about that movie, the better.

I find it odd that Hammond’s father will be a part of the storyline and I worry that it will be convoluted, but I don’t think it has anything to do with Thor. Much as I like Robbins, he’s not really on par with Anthony Hopkins. Also, it makes sense that DC/WB would try to get at least a couple of recognizable faces on the screen since GL is fairly unknown outside of comic circles.

We all knew that Hector had parents, right? I don’t recall ever being introduced to them in the comics, but it seemed a safe assumption that he had them.

Well, I’m sold. I loves me some Tim Robbins and, contrary to what my good friend David thinks, I feel that Howard the Duck is a better comics movie than any of Raimi’s Spider-Man flicks.
