This season of Smallville, even though is half-way over, doesn’t show any signs of slowing down with another DC villain joining the ranks of Metallo and Doomsday with an appearance on the show: Silver Banshee! TV Guide reports that Odessa Rae from TV’s Leverage, will portray the Silver Banshee as well as her alter ego, Siobhan McDougal in “Escape”.
But that’s only half of the news.
Annette O’Toole will be returning. That’s right, Martha Kent, who hasn’t been seen since the 6th season when she assumed Jonathan’s seat on the Senate. She is scheduled for at least one appearance with a possibility of another sometime down the line. It’ll be interesting to see how Martha reacts as her little boy has become quite the man these past seasons. I’ve always been fond of O’Toole as Martha and I have to say looks pretty good for 57 and is certainly a bit different from other Marthas in past TV productions.
Though, I have to wonder something. In Superman mythology, Martha is the one who made Superman’s legendary attire. I wonder in her appearance she mentions that awful dark garb he’s wearing and opts for something a bit more…colorful.

Good news!
I haven’t been a long time viewer of Smallville, as I’ve only watched certain episodes here & there throughout its entire run. I KNOW I’m definitely going to watch the Absolute Justice episodes, which features the Justice Society! I cannot wait for that one this weekend. Looks to be pretty good, with Doctor Fate, Hawkman and Stargirl. Yeah Buddy!
Anyway, back to “this” news…glad to see Annette back into the series, if even for a couple of episodes. She DOES need to see Clark all grown up and dressed in black, looking like a Kryptonian Neo (Mr. Anderson).
And yes, at 57…Annette still looks GREAT! A very nice looking woman. And here all this time I thought she was in her late 40s.

O’Toole looks awesome indeed. And she is missed, no question.
Rumor has it that she will be joined in Smallville by her RL husband, Michael McKean, finally returning as Perry White. If this is so, all I can say is, it’s about time.

Annette O’Toole is so hot… I don’t care that she’s 57. She could “assume my seat” anytime.
I don’t even know what that just meant, but I’m pretty sure it’s a euphemism for me having sex with her.
Michael McKean, aside from being hilarious, is one lucky guy.

Simon, I know McKean’s coming back for an episode as Perry White, but I don’t believe its the same one O’Toole will be in.
The focus more or less for that episode will be Perry meeting Lois for the first time.

LOL @ Shaun’s “assume my seat”!!!

Glad she’ll be back. The show has missed her and Jonathan as Clark’s moral foundation. Can’t wait for Perry to come back as well.

It always bothered me that they wrote Martha out of the show by having her move to Washington to assume Jonathan’s Senate seat…except in the episodes where Jonathan ran for office against Lex, it was for the STATE Senate. They then fudged it to being the U.S. Senate, because I guess “I’ve got to go to Washington” sounds a lot sexier than “I’ve got to go to Topeka.”

The return of Martha is the best news ever. I’m almost more excited for that than the Absolute Justice movie. The older generation of Johnathan, Martha, Lionel, and even Chloe’s dad added a lot of flavor that is much missed.
