MODOK looks creepy, and Thor looks kinda cool.
Peace.

I guess they’ve stopped making Marvel Legends figures?
I love the Star Wars 2-packs. Only place to really get new characters, like the Star Wars: Legacy figures, and Star Wars: Empire/Rebellion.

are the regular sized Marvel Legends totally dead?
December 8th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
What the heck is that Luke Cage? I thought Luke was all GQ now?
December 8th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
UGH: Marvel has the WORST figures. Horrible. Even though Thor is actually pretty cool looking, but one does not make up for years of horrible figures.
Could Luke Cage look any worse????
December 8th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
The Marvel Universe figures look horrendous.
The Super Hero Squad figures look like the cartoons they’re based upon.
Though I don’t understand the need by Marvel to shrink down MODOK and make him an Igor-like scientific toadie in the cartoons [both Super Hero Squad and the god-awful Iron Man series back in 90s]. It takes away what’s really innately interesting about the character – BIG GIANT HEAD.

As I far as I consider it, the Marvel Legends line died when Marvel left Toy Biz. They looked crappy after moving over to Hasbro. The faces and bodies of each figure had maybe half the amount of detail of that when Toy Biz was producing them. With that said, I’m glad Hasbro shrunk the scale of their figures because now their less-detail-style suits the figure more. I might have to pick up the JMS/Coipel Thor figure.

Sweet Christmas! What’s up with Luke Cage’s hat? Why bother if it looks so ugly.
December 8th, 2009 at 5:25 pm
Luke Cage’s hat makes him look like a construction worker.

All I can see in this post is Black Widow’s boobs

I really don’t like the Hasbro legends figures, they just LOOK like toys, I can’t not see a toy and all the things that mean toy. I miss the old Legends figures.

Robot Chicken’s gonna love these…
December 8th, 2009 at 7:01 pm
Marvel still has the worst figures on the market. I’m no expect on figure building, but you’d figure that with all the resources at Marvel’s disposal, and now backed by the Disney corp, not to mention the huge potential market for Marvel figures… well, that they’d take this more seriously and put out a product that’s AT LEAST as good as what Image and McFarlane have been doing for well over a decade now.

For those wondering, Hasbro says they will continue to put out Marvel Legends sized figures in 2-packs. They had a poll over the summer in which fans got to choose 3 figures from a pre-selected list. The winners were Deadpool, Black Widow and Valkyrie. Should be out some time in 2010.

I would actually buy a Bucky Barnes figure. Not THAT one though. Yech.
December 8th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
Lots of crappy taste here. The Marvel Universe line is fantastic.
December 8th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
Yeah, the first intelligent thing they did, was reduce the size. Sorry but they cannot be compared in quality with Toy Biz figures. What I don’t get is why Star wars figures look great (not all but still) and Marvel’s no.
The only good thing they are doing is the Super Heroe Squad series
December 8th, 2009 at 10:56 pm
That Luke Cage figure is insulting.
And he looks like he’s holding bacon.
December 9th, 2009 at 12:30 am
They need to go back to full size. The little ones look bad and they are impossible to pose. I really wish Toy Biz were back.
Or that they would at least be as good as the DC Universe toys

Coming from a collector, Hasbro’s Marvel Universe line is actually pretty good. No, really good. That’s a pretty good wave of figures too.
As for Luke Cage, he looks good to me but could be better. The paint washes could be fixed a little and the shirt probably shouldn’t be a solid matte. Also, the beanie/cap thing is removable.
December 9th, 2009 at 1:07 am
@ Tre – that made me laugh aloud and wake up the missus!
December 9th, 2009 at 3:42 am
OK, O., I’ll bite:
The Luke Cage figure looks good except the paint washes need fixing and the shirt probably shouldn’t be a solid matte, in addition to the removable knit cap being so bad that you should just remove it and forget that it ever was in the package?
If they insisted on providing a knit cap version (which isn’t a bad idea), they really needed to go with interchangeable heads, rather than a cap to put on his bald head. The current method is so cheap and so bad.

why would a guy who’s invulnerable to bullets and missles need a hat to keep his ears warm anyway?

My son loves the Marvel Universe, Super Hero Squad, and Legends figures. Marvel Legends is pretty much dead in the water, in my opinion. Even if, like someone stated above and I’ve heard, they just go with the two packs, I don’t think they’ll sell well. Everyone I know that buys Marvel Legends, either for themselves or for kids, skips the 2-packs and waits until they’ve sat on the shelf for awhile and they get marked down. My local Wal-Mart and Toys R Us has tons of Wolverine/Forge and the SHIELD 2-packs still. For some reason, our Wal-Mart JUST got the build-a-figure Holocaust set (Nova, Tigra, Black Bolt, etc.).
SHS is the best thing they have going right now…a variety released so far, fairly inexpensive (2 mini figures for around $6 or $7), and cool looking. My only problem is that every minor hero character and/or villain is packaged with a Spidey, Wolverine, or Iron Man. My son has about 10 to 20 of those three characters…just so he can get guys like Moon Knight, Iron Fist, Bishop, Psylocke, Mandarin, and Dread Knight.
December 9th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
OH!! It’s the stocking cap that they put him in from time to time…that makes a ton more sense. Swear to god, the first time I saw that pic, my brain decided that it was a construction helmet; which all things considered, didn’t make a lick of sense. Thank you for clearing that up! (Sadly, there is no irony in this post…I really thought it was a construction helmet, and was really surprised when it was pointed out to be otherwise. I don’t know what that says about me, but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t say nice things about the figure.)
December 9th, 2009 at 11:30 pm
I also thought it was a hard hat when I first looked at it, which was somehow reinforced by the fact that he’s holding a girder. Looked like some kind of “building site battle” theme.
December 17th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
Legends is still going but will end with 2 packs and i heard some of the ones planned include Valkyrie, Lady Bullseye, Deadpool and *I think* Storm.
Either way, I’m not happy with 3.75″ because all Marvel properties suck now thanks to the comics and decisions to kill off key characters like Punisher or retire them like She Hulk.
DC Classics aren’t anything to right home about either being direct ripoffs of Legends in the first place with BAF but suffer from scarcity, shoddy assembly, and are rather expensive.

I like some of the MU figures but some really look ugly & using the same body shape~~~
