So, you may have noticed that DC’s kept Superman and his cast of heroes, villains and supporting cast pretty busy since they (re)introduced a hundred thousand Kandorians to Earth over a year ago. By all indications, DC has made hits out of the various Man of Steel books, especially since the main man has been taken out of most of the titles in favor of different characters to take the lead. And as entertaining as “New Krypton” has been, all indications point to even more activity with Superman and New Krypton in 2010.
I’ve been loving it myself, so here’s my question: Why has DC Direct not so much as sniffed at some sort of “New Krypton” action figure line? The characters are there, and then some. DC Direct has never been shy on producing Superman figures, and he’s deeply immersed in his most compelling storyline in years, produced by some of the publisher’s best creatve talent. What’s the holdup? Well, I hope DC Direct’s paying attention, because the Super Articulate team has figured out no less than FOUR 4-figure waves that strike the right balance of A-list heroes (anchors, as they like to call them), villains, and characters that DC Direct really needs to get around to making. Take a look after the jump and let us know what you think!

Wave 1: Superman (in Military Guild uniform), Non, Superwoman, Guardian (Mattel’s already offered us one, DC Direct)

Wave 2: Supergirl, Reactron, Mon-El, Lex Luthor (can we finally get around to a Lex in a nice business suit, please??)

Wave 3: Nightwing and Flamebird (though the only conundrum at this point would be which costumes, seeing as they’re on their third since being introduced), Parasite, Superman (contemporary, in traditional costume)

Wave 4: Metallo, Thanagarian Warrior, Brainiac with Bottled Kandor, Secret Origin Superboy

What’s it going to take to get these action figures, Superman fans?

I think the Siegel lawsuit is making DC and Warner cautious about anything and everything they do with the Superman property even if their editors are confident it will get resolved. Last time I checked a judge has the credentials to make that final decision.
Cool picks and I think a Brianiac would be awesome especially this version next to his DC Animated Universe incarnation. Its pretty amazing.

Yes, I was just thinking this the other day since they’re doing some Batman Reborn figures. The big want from me in this line would be a Nightwing/Flamebird.

They’ve been pretty focused on Blackest Night lately and they’re now soliciting Batman Reborn action figures. I figured they were waiting until 2010′s big Superman event hits to release a nice line of figures tied into that event. (Gary Frank inspired figures please!) …then maybe a Flash line afterward?
