Samurai Jack to return?

November 20th, 2009

Gotta get back? Back to the past?

Well, Samurai Jack won’t disappoint — because he might be hitting the big screen in 2011.

Frederator has an interview up with series creator Genndy Tartakovsky, saying that he is teaming up with J.J. Abrams for a “2D/stereoscopic 3D production” of the legendary samurai. What’s more, IMBD has an announcement suggesting a 2011 release date! If that’s true, color me excited — Samurai Jack was an awesome show, probably with the best theme song on Cartoon Network. What do you think?

David, testify about the theme music (I can’t even think about the show without hearing it). This is good news.

  2. Howard Says:

Genndy has been threatening to give us an ending to the saga. Here’s to hoping he gets that chance and that this one makes it to production.

  3. Joe H Says:

I’d be stoked if this was able to go down. I wasn’t a devoted follower, but I really enjoyed it when it was on and had wondered if Samurai Jack ever made it back to his time.

  4. Tim W Says:

Samurai Jack was such an amazing show. I loved how the backgrounds were hand-painted. I would definitely be at opening day if they did produce a movie…
