I have the single issues, but I’m getting this just to be able to read it all at once (since I can’t find the earlier issues in my collection). It was excellent. one of my favorite things is just how damn russian it is; there’s an issue where the lead and his pal just hang around drinking melancholically (and singing, yes) before executing a guy. also, the actual writing has this odd phrasing that makes it sound like it was translated from russian; very subtle, but so good. also also: jp leon — simply one of the best

I like this review! It made me dash to the nearest comic shop and look up the title. Too bad they didn’t have it in stock anymore. I did however make a reservation. Looking forward to it!

Good review. I appreciate that you pointed out the comic’s ambition, something many comics today are lacking. Wintermen is one of my favorite comics of the decade.

Nice to see this great book which was initially supposed to be a Vertigo mini, and then got gutted to 8 and ultimately 6 issues by Wildstorm get the collection it’s due. A truly great read, which actually reads better on second and third readings. Add in the incredible John Paul Leon artwork and you have a true winner.
