Michael Ausiello reports that the Geoff Johns-penned episodes — initially scheduled to air apart as “Society” and “Legends” — are now being packaged together as a two-hour bonanza.

The CW special — which will have Hawkman, Stargirl, Dr. Fate, and Amanda Waller — will be hitting the CW on January 29. Stay tuned to Blog@ for more Smallville news to come!

UPDATE: Ausiello has some additional Smallville spoilers up, noting that there will be an episode entirely at Comic Con. Also, starting at around 3:01 in this video, there’s a spoilerific scene of Clark and Lois that will definitely be a talker…

Aside from the bad over-acting by the actor playing Zod, this has been a really good season. Realy looking forward to the JSA episodes.

  2. Ken Says:

I’m really looking forward to this! I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for a Jay Garrick appearance :)

  3. Luke Says:

Hey, that’s pretty cool. Hopefully CW will hype the heck out of it!

  4. Ryan Says:

Superman Homepage reports that it’s not “Amanda Waller” in the show … it’s “Andrea Potter”. Same character, different name. And she will reportedly be played by Pam Grier.

  5. David Pepose Says:

@Ryan — I got my Waller info from EW’s Michael Ausiello: http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/11/09/exclusive-smallville-lands-pam-grier/ … Superman Homepage is also saying Waller: http://www.supermanhomepage.com/news.php?readmore=7174

  6. Bruce the Spruce Says:

@jloder24 - There is only one way to portray Zod … thru overacting. If it’s not stuffy, overinflated, and British … it’s just not Zod. NOW KNEEL!

  7. Ryan Says:

Then they’ve changed it since I last checked. Thanks for the update.

  8. Ryan Says:

Just so people don’t think I’m crazy … LOL

I am loving this season. I actually stop watching for awhile, I’d catch an episode here and there but I was religious like I am now. I really don’t want to miss an episode.

I am just waiting for Clark to Fly! When will it happen?

    ********Corrected version******

I am loving this season. I actually stopped watching for awhile, I’d catch an episode here and there but I wasn’t religious like I am now. I never miss an episode.

I can’t wait for Clark to Fly! When will it happen?

  11. Nick Says:

Yeah, I’ve been impressed with the new season too. I just want Clark to hurry-up and become Superman already. Enough with this Blur nonsense!

  12. Simon DelMonte Says:

Yet another TV doing stuff with Geek Culture…whatever.

  13. Glenn Simpson Says:

FWIW, I understand that sometimes they use a different name for the comics characters until the actual filming, then change it. Like I believe Zatanna had a different name at the casting stage. So it’s possible that they will actually use “Amanda Waller” in the end.

    Or…not.

  14. Glenn Simpson Says:

There’s a big difference between shows like “America’s Got Talent” and “Dancing With The Stars” vs. shows like “Real World”.

“Real World”, “Kardasians” etc. pretend to be showing the lives of these people as they are living it, but it’s actually very scripted and staged.

AGT and DWTS are pretty much exactly what they say they are. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

I watch Dancing with the Stars because it’s interesting to see these celebrities get out of their comfort zone and also to see really hot female dancers with awesome bodies in skimpy clothes. America’s Got Talent is also good for seeing regular people achieve some small amount of fame, although I sometimes disagree with America about what constitutes “talent”.

  15. bigbandit Says:

Don’t watch this show much, but I’ll definitely catch this. Even though there are lots of complaints about this show in general, the small silver lining is that there is more of an effort to push comics properties through other popular media besides games and cartoons… and it’s been going on for a good while now.

  16. bigbandit Says:

Ha, ha… I like the choice for Hawkman… but the funny thing is that he looks more ‘Superman-ish’ than Mr.Welling!

  17. justin Says:

Rev, I think you’ve got a bad attitude, and I’ll leave it at that.

I’ve personally stopped watching the show, but I’m gonna check out these eps/tv movie because Johns did such a good job with his previous eps. I’m also one of those people who hung on watching the show for years but not enjoying it. To give you a comparison, it’s like reading a comic book for years that you enjoy, but it his a slow decline into mediocrity. You hang on because you keep expecting and hoping it will get better. I did that for a long time, before I just said F it.

  18. Fletcher Says:

Two hours of cheesy Smallville fun? Awesome.

  19. SNORE Says:

another great adventure of YAWNVILLE… PEACHY

  20. Ryan Says:

    @jloder24

Dude. Callum Blue is doing a GREAT job! I’m loving him as Zod. This season is pretty good so far. Lots of Green Arrow so that’s a plus.

  21. 8888 Says:

Amanda Waller is now called Andrea Potter!??! But she’s The Wall!!!

  22. 8889 Says:

    Now she’ll be the Pot.

  23. Ryan Says:

    @8888/9 …

It was originally reported that she would be Andrea Potter, but now they’re saying she WILL be Amanda Waller. Most likely the name “Andrea Potter” was just a cover for casting to keep her role secret until they were ready to announce it.

  24. Sector3600 Says:

Whatever! This show really has no appeal to the core DCU fans. It only bridges hype pop culture with a potential comic book sale. Instead of spreading Geoff Johns too thin why not return some of these characters on the TV show back into the real DCU for a change?

The TV series gets Dr. Fate and Hawkman yet for the most part these are not in the current DCU in their most iconic versions?

  25. jedifish Says:

Zod’s acting has been decent. Tess has been a train wreck. Her acting is terrible.

  26. Tobias Says:

I’m super excited about Michael Shanks as Hawkman. I loved him in SG-1, and the whole hero/archeologist thing fits. He’s even died and come back a few times lol.

  27. Brandon DeStefano Says:

To all of you naysayers and people with nothing better to do than to bitch about this show… STOP WATCHING IT! No one has a gun to your head forcing you to watch anything! Accept the fact that there are different ways to tell the same story and take it for what it is: entertainment. I am so tired of all of you complaining week in and week out. Just. Stop. Watching.

  28. Bingo Says:

Cool! I’m looking forward to watch that Clark and Lois scene.

  29. FrischDVH Says:

I think that they should get Wesley Scott Shipp to play Jay Garrick. He played Barry Allen in the Flash TV show.

I’m so glad we core DCU fans have a spokesman in Sector3600 except I don’t remember voting for him to be our spokesman.

  31. berrybatty Says:

Fanboys might never be totally satisfied, so lets not worry about them too much. True, Smallville creators do like to lay the cheese fairly thick, and that is unfortunate. They have proven many times that they can do much better, and every time they “cheese”, it’s another wasted opportunity to do something really powerful. I really liked the Jor-El/Zod episode. The idea that the both of them could be Clark’s bio-dad was one such case, and it creates interesting possibilities for Clark’s developing personality. Very exciting, in my opinion. I also love Tess. Interesting possibilities there as well. Now, about that super suit were all waiting for. I would love to see it hand delivered to Clark by Hal Jordan. I feel it should a piece of Kryptonian technology, activated by crystals in the belt buckle. It would be a simple body suit, maybe one color, and would morph into an enhanced supersuit when activated(unable to be burned,torn,etc.).The cape would be a separate piece that he would have to carry around in a back pack or briefcase. The suit would have been entrusted with the Guardians for safe keeping, and would be delivered when it was considered to be the right time. I also hope that the show doesn’t become another Lois and Clark thing. It really should be the development of the League that is top priority, not this kind of “Charmed” formula.Clark needs a male buddy and guys like Oliver and Bruce just aren’t buddy types. Clark needs a male friend he can talk to and relate to on some level, someone fuuly enmeshed in his ’super-world”, someone he doesn’t have to dodge much of the time.

My opinions o a Smallville TV movie?

    ….Lemme Think…..
Okay, Thought it. I love Smallville, and I love that Green Lantern idea. But, I think that instead of Hawkman for this movie, they should bring in Shayera. And, I think that because Lois Lane IS Clark’s destiny, that they have to involve her as his co-worker/ girlfriend. I don’t think Smallville spent like six years without Lois Lane to make this a CK/LL thing. Oh, and why does every reckless person who ‘dies’ have an LL name, for example
    -Lana Lang (faked)
    -Lex Luthor (murdered)
    -Lionel Luthor (thrown from window)
    -Laura Lang (1989)
    -Lois Lane (revived by Chloe)
-idk but Lara-El (idk if el counts as L but, destroyed with Krypton)

  33. sasiprapa Says:

I’m looking forward to watch only Clark and Lois scene. They’re both
    look nice together
