Thanks for clarifying, Nat. I honestly wasn't 100% sure where Paul's X-MEN work fell in relation to his NEXUS run; I thought the two runs were slightly closer to one another. This was all way before I read comics.

It may not be quite X-MEN in profile, but I actually first encountered his work and still associate him primarily with LEAVE IT TO CHANCE. And that work is more consistent and stronger than NEXUS. (Which isn't to say that his NEXUS isn't still good, as I'm sure his X-MEN will be if I ever have occasion to read it.)

Yes, Nexus was quite good stuff during this period (and most periods, for that matter). Well worth reading.

Your reference "Smith, an artist who went on to much higher profile work but showed talent from the very beginning" may need a bit of clarification for some readers. This Nexus work actually came about half a decade after Paul's highest profile work, his run on The Uncanny X-Men 165-175. The Mighty Paul did, of course, go on to other high-profile work as well, and continues to produce fine work.
