Hi Shaun. I felt that the movie was all over the place (Finch's revelation reducing to a quick montage? Everyone seeming to own a V mask? Evey able to walk in and out of the Shadow Gallery? and the leader bloke is suddenly kidnapped by one of his own?), and I just felt (like watchmen) it showed why some works should stay in the medium they were created for...

"V" is definitely my favorite Moore ever, toppping even Watchmen, which I still like although (unlike Kimota94) I think it hasn't aged as well as other stories (such as "V") have.

@ Lee: What didn't you like about the movie apart from what you've already stated? I disagree completely that the plot "didn't make much sense"... Some liberties were taken, sure, but I thought it *mostly* stayed faithful to the book, and to the themes that Moore presented. At the very least I felt like the movie asked some compelling questions about the nature of terrorism, and if/when it's ever justified.

I love the guy, but I also think Moore's an old crank who isn't going to like what anyone does to his stuff. The "V" movie was far more enjoyable than the Watchmen flick, IMO however, in part because the "V" movie changed enough things to be more directly about the current day. You could see how the story and themes were still relevant, and I didn't get the same feeling watching Watchmen in the theatre. It was still a very coherent telling of the story, IMO, and I thought the cast and their performances were excellent.

It was a more American-centric view, yes, but given our government's actions post-9/11, and the increasing conservatism in the British government around that same time, I felt like "V" had a lot of important things to say. I still do. Anyone who hasn't seen it yet definitely should. Along with the two Nolan Bat-movies and Iron Man, it's among my favorite comic-related movies ever.

I'm always flip-flopping on whether I think "Watchmen" is my favourite Moore work, or "V for Vendetta". I usually end up coming down on the side of whichever one I've re-read most recently, which says something about how well both books have stood the test of time so far... as well as how fickle I am!

V is a classic. I remember reading it when I was about 10 years old, when Warrior first came out. It confused me back then, but it had something that kept me reading it. That and Marvelman were the best things in Warrior, and Moore is a genius!

The film was terrible. Plot didn't make much sense, some terrible dialogue ("he was us, he was all of us"), and I can see why Moore didn't want to be associated with it!
