Considering the last time Steve and Tony met, it wasn’t the best of meetings — but with Tony struggling with the aftermath of World’s Most Wanted, could these one-time friends reunite? Let us know what you think!

Steve Rogers as Iron Man ?

  2. Ortiz Says:

Bianchi’s Cap looks kinda strange, but the armor in the suitcase looks great, is Tony going to bite the dust? Well, if you are considering that Cap was “dead” and also Thor, Iron Man is the only one still alive all this time, so to be fair, he should die a little bit, but there is the issue of the movie next year, so maybe the one who is gonna pay the price of victory is another one. Let’s see what happens.

    Peace.

  3. Mechagamera Says:

Steve Rogers as Iron Man would let Bucky remain as Captain America, but I don’t see it for more than a couple of issue (until Tony gets his mind back). It is one thing for a bad guy to pretend to be a good guy or for a sidekick to take over the mantle, but for one big name hero to take over the name of another one for more than an issue or two seems like it goes too far.

  4. detourne_me Says:

    RE: Mechagamera
I guess you’ve never heard of Clint Bartons schtick as Goliath?

  5. r Says:

I think Matt Fraction stated that Tony Stark would be out of the picture for a while, as Iron Man. Although this doesn’t necessarily have to follow suit, it could be Steve offering the armor to someone he believes is worthy of it (Bucky maybe? similar to Bucky getting the Capt. America shield and cowl from Tony)

  6. Tev Says:

Anyone want to wager what the numbers on the case mean? Years maybe?

  7. Doug Ramsey Says:

Not the least bit interested. Civil War was an embarrasment and seeing as how it’s still the same people who wrote that insulting book, I won’t even consider buying it.

I’m sure there won’t be much of a plot and something magic will happen and stuff will be different because of it.

  8. Biscuit Says:

marvel has already stated that in siege tony as Iron Man, Thor, and Steve Rogers as Cap would be reunited. you can clearly see that the image is showing Tony opening his suitcase with the Iron Man armor while Rogers looks on.

  9. Mick Says:

I trust Bendis won’t disappoint. Not every story is perfect even the much hyped, but awful Final Crisis and Morrisonia Batman and Robin.

  10. Sevedris Says:

DC reinventing its Silver Age elements - good.
Marvel doing the same - bad. Tony’s armor in a suitcase looks silly.

  11. Russ Burlingame Says:

I’m sorry, but that’s just a very ugly image. The nice detail on the armor doesn’t make up for the fact that the human in the image looks like something that went around the dryer a few times.

  12. Yonofui Says:

Cap Says: I’m not going to wipe his ass. Stark likes to clean up his own mess, so Huggies on your own, pal!

    Who’s the Bitch Now!

  13. Shaun Says:

Sevedris said: “DC reinventing its Silver Age elements - good.
Marvel doing the same - bad. Tony’s armor in a suitcase looks silly.”

The armor is a suitcase is indeed silly, but other than that I have to say the exact opposite of your opinion… I’ve been completely turned off to Didio’s “vision” for the DCU since coming back to comics a few years ago. Marvel’s done some stupid things for sure (I refuse to read any Spidey any more), but Captain America and Iron Man have been two of my favorite reads in that same timespan.

  14. Gert1033 Says:

Yeah, it pains me but I didn’t include this in my pre-order. I just can’t stomach what Bendis has done to the Avengers. I’m in the minority-fine. But won’t be buying until he finally leaves. Wouldn’t he be happier satisfying his Luke Cage and Spiderwoman obsession with a book focused on just those two?

  15. Foster Says:

Jesus, hate, hate, hate…if you don’t like it, don’t comment and move on and never look at it again.

Oh, and Doug Ramsey, Mark Millar and Steve McNiven did Civil War, I wasn’t aware that they were the creative team on Siege. But not to worry, I’m sure Marv Wolfman and George Perez are going to knock it out of the park on the second half of Blackest Night.

  16. Peter Morningstar Says:

    Tev Says:
“Anyone want to wager what the numbers on the case mean?”

Yeah, that’ll be the number of tie-ins!

  17. Ayres Says:

I can’t see Marvel putting Steve in the Iron Man armor for long with IM2 coming out next year how would they cash in on movie tie in’s and explain to non comic readers this other guy being in the suit then with the Cap movie on the way ( I know it’s a long time off) it wouldn’t make any sense , at least that’s the way I take it .

  18. Ayres Says:

Why the hell is one hand facing us fully and the other sideways ? That has to be a really big top half of the case given the width of the hand , and is that a thumb why would Bianchi just put a thumb thumb if in fact that’s what it is . It’s placed very oddly.

  19. Johnboy2030 Says:

There is no avoiding that someone has an issue somewhere with some story. But it seems that too many of the people that blog overly critical things on the websites are looking for another Watchmen story. Or something that just HAS to have some GRAND significance. Life altering even. What happened to a story plays out like a good old fashioned pop corn flick? Something that doesn’t require you take a while to digest or sit and ponder on for hours. Sometimes you need that and I for one would like to see that in Siege. The good guys banding together to just go kick some ass. I am sick of this “evil wins” crap. Its PLAYED OUT!!!! Its like the NWO from wrestling years ago and its been all over comics (this means you too DC). Its gotten ANNOYING!!! And the hero’s are starting to turn EMO on us. Why dont Marvel and DC start handing out free razor blades with the comics. I am hoping that Siege will be an ass kicking story. The hero’s finally get over themselves and go ptu the fear go God back into the little creeps that have been running around lately pretending to be them. Something needs to get me excited to pick up a comic book again. Give me that adrenalin rush and makes you wanna don the tights like when you were a kid. This is Marvel’s chance to one up DC. If I want EMO, I will start listening to The Used and go talk to the “I wear my sister’s pants” kids down the street.

I see you were so insulted, you didn’t even read who wrote it.
None of the same people are even involved with this event.

  21. Michael Says:

    Ayres
Just so you know Comic Book Movie fans hate Comic books they think the movie are better then the comics so they don’t read them as far as the movie those if Marvel is stuipd enough to let a movie control Comics that their own dam Problem maybe they should be smart and not make movie anymore (Marvel smart LOL).

  22. Bruce the Spruce Says:

Allow me to elaborate on the cover more …

Marvel dropped 60% in the 3rd quarter. “Let’s try to shock our way into profits, rather than right decent stories like DC. I really worked in the 90’s.”

  23. justme Says:

Any one know if there is any significance to the combo number “399377″ on the briefcase

“Allow me to elaborate on the cover more …

Allow me to use any excuse possible to throw gasoline on the Marvel/DC feud at any given opportunity. Grow up and read the comics you like and leave it alone.

  25. Tom Hunter Says:

You know, I just got this strange feeling that this is gonna end with Bucky being dead again, dying to free his country!!!

  26. Ayres Says:

Michael I’m aware of the Movie vs Comic issue , what I’m saying from a standpoint as a buisness owner if they “Marvel Execs” want to cash in on a tie in and bring in new readers who are introduced to the books from the films . So having Steve be Iron Man wouldn’t make sense …. but then again I could be wrong , look at the film treatments for Daredevil, Elektra, Ghost Rider, FF1 & 2, Hulk, and none of those films affected the titles they derived from . Yet in the case of X-men Marvel came out with that Rogue mini series and it tried to be include film continuity and comic and the end result was a mess.

Hopefully when Siege comes out the book will have good writting and good art and fans will be happy seeing Marvels “Big Three” return to comics and flat out kick ass and give Norman a respectable haircut I think it’s about time he got rid of the wavy corn roll look.

  27. John Says:

He should really keep a more secure lock on something as important as the Iron Man armor.

  28. Bruce the Spruce Says:

Easy Bendis no hard feelings, but you suck.

  29. Spacedog2k5 Says:

Good lord, it’s wonder ANYONE publishes comics after a day’s comments on Newsarama. The book has even been published yet, and already it’s “Nag nag nag, bitch bitch bitch..”. Seriously, guys, I don’t always like EVERYTHING out there, but you know what? I know this may come as a surprise, but here comes the shocker: You *DON’T* have to buy and/or read it! Now, go on, and let those of us interested, less-closed mind folk look and wait with anticipation. Sheesh!

  30. Ayres Says:

Someone please figure out what 399377 means now that’s bugging me !

  31. Somebody else Says:

    @Doug Ramsey

It’s kind of tough to believe that you’re “not the least bit interested” when you post in response to the article.

  32. Doc_doom Says:

    NO MORE BENDIS ON AVENGERS!!!!!

    WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

But seriously, I’m all for modern take on the Avengers…its just obvious that Bendis was the wrong person to write it.

AT LEAST HALF of the current writers at Marvel could’ve done a better job with New Avengers.

  33. Doc_doom Says:

Peter David, Ed Brubaker, JMS, Greg Pak, Fred Van Lente, Jeff Parker, Christos Gage, Dan Slott, hell I HATE most of Millar’s work, but it’s obvious by the Ultimates that he at least GETS what type of stories and characters the Avengers SHOULD be about.

Bendis on the Avengers is like Mickey Spillane writing a Tom Clancy novel…it makes no sense.

  34. Ayres Says:

If Spillane was still alive I’d like to see him tackling Rainbow Six.

  35. Grez10 Says:

“Just so you know Comic Book Movie fans hate Comic books they think the movie are better then the comics so they don’t read them as far as the movie those if Marvel is stuipd enough to let a movie control Comics that their own dam Problem maybe they should be smart and not make movie anymore (Marvel smart LOL).”

Jesus Christ my head hurts due to what an idiot you are.

  36. Molnek Says:

Anyone else think the suitcase is hiding nefarious acts being performed on Cap? Look at him grasping his cowl and the weird look on his face.

  37. Dallas Barr Says:

    Right on, Spacedog 2K5!!!

  38. Tev Says:

The first two digits probably refer to 1939, so could be related to Cap’s origin. 77 and 93 could refer to something Thor and Iron Man related but I don’t want to spend hours searching for what might be random numbers!

It could be something as simple as when the comics were set. Due to sliding timescale, maybe Donald Blake first become Thor in 77 and Stark became IM in 93?

Maybe something happened with Marvel in 77 and 93?

  39. Ayres Says:

And didn’t Steve already wear armor in the 90’s?!

  40. J. Dinkhouse Says:

All I have to say to all you Bendis-Haters is:

Before “Disassembled” and New Avengers, The Avengers was one of the weakest titles Marvel was publishing, and now it is a consistent top 10 book, most of the time holding down the number one spot. Obviously, that means the book sucks, right?

  41. Gary Moore Says:

Wow.. the art is bad! The IronMan armor is all out of proportion.

  42. Anal Surprise Says:

    J. Dinkhouse wrote : “Before “Disassembled” and New Avengers, The Avengers was one of the weakest titles Marvel was publishing.”

I own every issue of New Avengers up until my switch to trades when Marvel went $3.99. I’ve enjoyed Bendis’ run on the book and hope it continues well into the future.

This being said, the writer of the book before Bendis took it over was Chuck Austen.

    CHUCK AUSTEN!!

As in Chuck “It would rock to have Clint sleep with Jan” Austen.

I mean… Chuck Austen. Need I really say more?

Fine, I will : you could have put an obese cat in heat on the book after Chuck Austen’s run, and sales would have probably picked up.

    (No offense to Mr Austen.)

    /AS

  43. LightningBug Says:

Its hard to imagine how “Anal Surprise”s comment meant no offense to Chuck Austen. Not that I liked Chuck Austen’s work, but I’m just saying…

This cover isn’t Bianchi finest work although it does raise interesting questions. To me the numbers seem to mean March ‘99 and March ‘77. Do those dates mean anything to anybody?

  44. Rawb Says:

Not only is the armor clumsily packed (is that a severed thumb above the hand facing us?), but it only contains a mask, two gloves, one detachable thumb (?) and iron booties. Where’s the leg armor?

  45. Red Mask Says:

When Captain America throws his mighty shield…

  46. Sylar Wesker Says:

nah the numbers on the case indicate the total price of the story and ties you will spend as a fan

  47. Anal Surprise Says:

Awww, c’mon LightningBug… I thought that last line was hilarious. =)

    /AS

  48. CryinWolf Says:

Steve Rogers looks so badass in a trench coat without that useless mask on.

  49. Jimalsi Says:

Avengers did quite well under Kurt Busiek, who wrote it not all that long before Bendis. Yes Bendis has enjoyed great success on the Avengers books and many others, but that doesn’t mean other writers couldn’t have done as well. And Bendis isn’t perfect either, based on Nick Fury’s Secret Warriors.

Also, most other writers weren’t allowed to make the sweeping changes they allowed Bendis to make. I’d been hearing of an Avengers implosion since the early 80s; they finally let Bendis do it.
