Nathan Petrelli fired from Heroes

Vote for Petrelli? Looks like he’s gotten a recall.

Nikki Finke has announced that Adrian Pasdar, who played Nathan Petrelli the first few seasons of Heroes, has been let go from the show.

One the one hand, Pasdar’s power set was among the most visually interesting of the show’s first season. That said, considering his increasingly dark characterization — as well as his character eventually being completely annexed by that of Sylar — it’s not too surprising he’s been cut.

The series death march continues… :-(

I just hope Pasdar doesn’t end up being so depressed from being let go that he ends up sleeping in a refridgerator box in his living room.

This is the saddest news I have ever read about any of my favorite television characters. Although the “death” of Nathan is no big surprise after all the attempts to kill this intriguing well-acted character during every timeline imaginable, I am more distressed at the story that this fine actor was treated in such a manner. (Supposedly in the past every actor was told in person in advance, not from reading a script.) Adrian deserved better than that. I will miss Nathan Petrelli. I will not miss NBC since HEROES and Nathan were the only reasons to turn to NBC. Long live NCIS and CBS!

I’m sure he’s glad to be let free from that black hole of TV programming. Early release for good behavior?

Even if he’s not, he shouldn’t feel too bad. I’m sure all of this co-stars will be looking for new gigs soon enough.

The reason I left “Heroes” for good was the horrible treatment this once complex character was given, and the way they degraded the actor that played him. Good one minute, evil the next, then back again and again…plus all the obvious effort to kill him off despite the fans wishes.

I’m glad I left, and I hope Pasdar finds a show that is equal to his considerable talent. He’s out in front of the curve, I’m sure. As someone already said, the writing is on the wall for this once quality show.

sendean, I’m sorry, but Heroes is definitely not the only reason to watch NBC… in fact it’s one of the reasons to change the channel, right now–and has been the last two seasons. No, series like Chuck, 30 Rock, The Office and new shows like Community and Parks and Recreation are what’s keeping NBC afloat, not an also-ran like Heroes.

That said, I did enjoy Adrian Pasdar’s work on the series, and am sorry to hear that he’ll be leaving (though the writing was pretty much on the wall when HIS character was killed at the end of last season and he was basically the surrogate body for Sylar for less than three episodes). This season’s been better than the past two so far, but that’s not saying much. The first season was stellar, I hope they get back to more of the character-building we saw then… and less killing-off of good stories and characters. Best of luck, Mr. Pasdar.

Um, people, just how long do you think he was going to stay on? This is not a “shocking” departure. His character was killed and Sylar masquerading as him showed signs of cracking in the end of season 3.

I do love Pasdar as an actor. He was on of the top actors in this whole show. I think it’s best that he’s not on the show. What would the writers do with him? This show doesn’t know what to do with him anymore.

  8. Shawn Kane Says:

I was a Heroes defender until last season when I finally gave up on the show. I still hold Season 1 near and dear to my heart.

  9. Vinnie Bartilucci Says:

First I thought it was going to be Masi Oka based on the level of importance they placed on last night’s episode, complete with quote from Masi about what a joy it was working on the show, etc. Then after the end of last night I saw that another character was dead, but that might still get un-done.

Considering that Nathan hasn’t been seen since the first couple of episodes, and they haven’t really known what to do with him for quite a while, he’s rather the least painful move. Pasdar is a good actor and I’m sure he’ll not be off the screen for long.

Hell, this is Heroes, there’s not a character that can’t be brought back, so there’s every chance he’ll be back anyway.

I have been watching the show with the hope of seeing Adrian Pasdar! didn’t hear of him not being on the show. I find it very hard to believe. He’s the reason why I was watching, not to say the show isn’t great but alas, he’s key and needs to be there, not to disappear. This is a twisted move the wrong way. Mr. Pasdar is amazing, he radiates sexiness while being the reflective element in this show, a real core of conflict in Heroes. Peter without Nathan? more freaky than the show itself and a tragedy. Wow, he is the tradition, the family, the flavor and a binder for the whole story. The writers do great stuff but where did they get this direction? Sadly, I think it is the death of my viewing. While I doubt that Mr. Pasdar will see this, here’s my plea — Please Adrian (for the legion of ladies out here), we would like to see you back soon, like now! So if this is all true, I hope for a new gig worthy of you. Respectfully, many envy your famous spouse (she’s got you) and I pray that you folks stay connected, a rock “together” in the celebrity sea. Oh, on a sea note, I get a big kick out of your sailing videos. Yes we see your good side on camera while your family life likely has the daily challenges we all do. Actors that get caught up in their own hot air eventually blow away in the wind (the boorish paparazzi fodder). But the rare down to earth one is worth being the fans’ fantasy! You have been out there for the show in only a positive way,in the interviews you’re adorable, affectionate with smarts and magnetism in a world class way. I’ll vote you for President even if I am a Canadian. This is Heroes super loss, and dang, mine too. I don’t get it…so hey you’ve been a vampire before, You can rise from the dead. We love Adrian in Canada.
