Both of these books are excellent; I've already got at least one teacher at my school (preK-8th) excited to see them. They are definitely aimed at the elementary through middle school-aged readers, showing the horrors without overwhelming young minds with graphic violence. When I showed these books to my lunchtime book discussion groups, the 3rd-5th graders showed the greatest interest in the books. Any teacher who uses these books in conjunction with either Lois Lowry's Number the Stars or The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank would be doing exactly the right thing.
