BrianC, I have similar issues with a lot of long-running serials. I borrowed the first SCALPED from NYPL, but last I looked they'd skipped vol. 2, but did have vol. 3.

Kat, I regularly donate comics to my local library here in Jersey (yet borrow in New York; ironic, I suppose) also.

Very cool to hear that people are using the public option!

I'm the crazy comics lady who donates boxes and boxes of graphic novels and manga to my local public library, my local community college library, and the school library where I work. I'm trying to now add my younger son's high school library to my list. For more than a quarter century, I was the crazy librarian adding comics to the library where I worked.

I get comics from the library all the time. I don't know how many times I've read something from the library that I was glad to have read and even more glad that I didn't buy. Then again, there were also things that I read from the library and knew that I wanted to go buy it now.

I use the library quite a bit. Especially at the end of the year, when the "Best of" lists come out, I will grab anything I haven't read yet. I certainly can't own everything I read.

My only issue - the New York Public Library has volumes 1-5 of Y, then nothing until volume 9. Frustrating!
