IDW has announced that it will be publishing two new comics with Electronic Arts, to capitalize on some recent video game franchises: Army of Two and Dragon Age.
According to a press statement, EA will be in charge of the creative aspects of the books, while IDW will print and distribute them. Yet the talent is perhaps even more surprising: Peter Milligan will be writing Army of Two with newcomer artist Dexter Soy, while Orson Scott Card will be writing Dragon Age.
“This is a great opportunity for IDW to work with a worldwide leader in video games,” said IDW’s COO Greg Goldstein in the statement. “We look forward to bringing a tremendous amount of great content into the comics market.”

I’m sad to hear this. It reminds me of the current state of Wildstorm. I use to collect virtually everything they put out, and particularly loved the books they were putting out featuring the Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Friday the 13th Franchises. But Wildstorm started to focus on their licensed video game titles and apparently let everything else slip. Since I am not a gamer, now I don’t pick up anything from Wildstorm. I hope IDW doesn’t follow this model, because their are several titles that they are currently publishing that I quite enjoy.

The only game – turned – comic that I tried was the Castlevania one since I”m a retro gamer, and I didn’t like it.
That was the end of it.
