Green Hornet set pics ahoy

Courtesy of SplashNewsOnline, we get a peek at Seth Rogen as the Green Hornet and Jay Chou (who has replaced Stephen Chow) as his trusty sidekick, Kato. Now we all know that this film hasn’t had the best of luck, but the pictures show some sort of progress.

I’ve been a fan of the Hornet almost all my life. One of my first comics was the NOW Comics adaptation, and I’m a fan of the old TV show. I’ll be okay if they make this a straight-up action movie, for the sake of just seeing Rogen in that sort of role, but I hear it will be more comedy-centric. Though I think some comedy would be okay so people who are unfamiliar to the character don’t automatically compare him to Batman.

Either way, I’m enthusiastic about the project. So after viewing the pictures, what do you guys think?

Also, I really love how they made his stinger pistol.

what are you, 150 years old?

    I don’t think that’s the Hornet’s Sting – I’ll lay odds that’s the Gas Gun.

Maybe it’s my ever-so-mild red-green deficiency, but that outfit doesn’t look very green at all. It looks the same color as Kato’s outfit. I’m not looking for the Riddler’s shade, but it could have been a little more…verdant. The look and cut (Of both the suit and Rogen) are perfect tho, as is Black Beauty, if you’ve seen those pics.

I may decide to set my heading for Hopeful on this one. Tell me Van Williams has a cameo and I’ll get right in behind it.

I have recordings of some of the old radio programs (my dad was a fan of the show when he was a kid), and I naturally watched the TV series (and immediately became a Bruce Lee fan). I have most of the NOW Comics featuring Green Hornet and the series starring Kato. I prefer my Green Hornet being a little more serious, as portrayed in the comics. GH’s outfit, as shown in the photos, definitely doesn’t look green enough. And if Rogen is going for more humor, as in camp, I won’t see it. I don’t want campy, self-aware humor.
