The Source has revealed some preview images of Francis Manapul’s take on the Flash!
Manapul said that he would be doing his own inks and watercolors on the new project, which teams him up again with his Adventure Comics collaborator Geoff Johns. The book is due out early next year.

The heavy brow makes Flash look angry to me. And also, isn’t that Wally’s costume, with the v-shape in the lightning belt?

Yeah, those aren’t actual images to be used on the title. They’ve been on Francis’ Blog for quite some time now, before he was assigned the new Flash book.

I got a chill when I saw this. It’s the closest thing to new Wieringo art we can ever have.
Good on you Mr. Manapul.

I got the ‘Ringo vibe, too. SOOOOO excited for the Flash revamp next year.

I don’t think he’s a good match, but he’s early enough in his career that he may be flexible.
For a few years, it seemed that DC “promoted” pencillers by assigning them to better-selling titles – e.g., Scott McDaniel going from Nightwing to Detective – rather than just finding the best available artist for the book however many copies it was likely to sell. It seems that Mr. Manapul’s moving from Adventure Comics to a new Flash book may be along those lines.

Of course Flash looks angry. Serious runners never look happy, even when they’re enjoying a run.

That’s true, otherwise they get bugs in their teeth.

I really liked this…. I’d be willing to check this out when it hits. But I really wish they hadn’t brought Barry back. The one meaningful death in the DCU, wiped away.
I’m guessing Marvel won’t be far behind with Uncle Ben.
