You knew it was only a matter of time.
This announcement comes from the D23 expo and more and more news sources are confirming it.
Now, I’m not the world’s biggest “Pirates” fan by any means, but I am intrigued on where they could take the story since the last one ended on a somewhat down note. I had heard rumors of Russell Brand playing Capt. Jack’s brother and such.
I guess we will have to wait a year and a half to find out what happens.

I’m not a big Pirates fan either, though I loved the second one for just being such goofy fun (that chase scene on the island, with the giant wheel, is hilarious).
I actually had high hopes for the third one as a result, but aside from the Keith Richards cameo (I hope they bring him back!) it was a drag. I’m not sure that a fourth one is needed, aside from making Disney some more coin.

Not thrilled about this one, and also I read Orlando Bloom ain’t gonna be in the fourth movie, so really low hopes for this.
Peace.

It’ll be worth it if it’s anything like the source material. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_Stranger_Tides

ON STRANGER TIDES is the name of a book by Tim Powers first published in 1988. It features pirates (Blackbeard, in particular) and voodoo magic, so it fits the genre (or Disney’s movies fits its genre).

If Bloom’s not going to be in it, then I’d guess Keira Knightley (sp?) won’t be in it either? Well shit… Looking at her for two hours is one of the best reasons to watch any of those movies. WIthout her, forget it.
Will & Elizabeth’s story seemed to be completed at the true end of the third of the movie (AFTER the credits), so I guess it makes sense they wouldn’t be in it. Bummer.

The Bloom/Knightley arc is over, so they won’t be returning, but I would hope for way more Sparrow vs Barbosa

Actually, that is a good point Cisco Kid… More of Jack vs. Barbosa could be fun to watch.
