Check out Lee Garbett’s Batgirl

September 8th, 2009

Batgirl artist Lee Garbett has posted up an intriguing new design for Batgirl on his Twitpic account:

Considering there’s a new woman in the cape and cowl, could this redesign be more than just a cool doodle? Could this silhouette — a nice fusion of the Batgirl and Spoiler costumes — be the new Batgirl?

    Looks like Batgirl to me!

  2. DaVeO Says:

    Very nice, very nice indeed.

I think Stephanie Brown needs a new costume to set her apart, but this design reminds me a lot of the The Huntress, too. I don’t know if that’s intentional or not. Since The Huntress doesn’t have a comic book home right now, she might make a good mentor for Batgirl (“good” being a relative term, of course).

The Source posted the cover for Batgirl #3. It is the new costume:

I think this looks like a great submission to project rooftop and a great overhaul of the Batgirl look in general but I doubt this will see print ….but since I don’t work for DC in any way or form I could be wrong .

I spoke way to soon I was sooo damn wrong!

  7. MattZ Says:

It looks awesome. Perfect blen of old and new with a color tip to her old Spoiler threads. Well done.

  8. Kev Says:

Not sold on it, plain black body suit with a belt that fits and no 90′s thigh pocket would work better imo

  9. Ray Raydell Says:

This is GORGEOUS! A perfect melding of her Spoiler colours and the bat-theme.

Not too sure about the leg pouches though. God, I hope those aren’t going to start making a comeback. They need to stay in the ’90s.

  10. Lawrence Says:

Why can’t female superheroes ever find a belt that fits?

  11. Wesley Smith Says:

    Do women wear belts?

Besides, 97.9% of all super-hero belts, pouches and pockets are completely extraneous, regardless of gender. The Bat-family are exceptions, but I’ve never seen an X-Men pull anything out of any pouch or pocket on their costumes, ever.

  12. Erin Says:

With all the talk about how “sexy” this costume was I was expecting the worst. But I actually like this. She’s making the costume her own and it shows.

Anyone see the DC Direct figure? Looks like freaking Michelle Pfeiffer as Selena Kyle. Not sure if that was intentional.
