Artist extraordinaire Cliff Chiang has drawn up a nice Teen Titans-related send-off to teen comedy master John Hughes, who passed away unexpectedly yesterday:
I won’t give away Cliff’s Breakfast Club-style musings, so you should click the above link and check it out. For those of you who don’t know the poster he’s referencing, click here — but yeah, Donna Troy really is the DC Universe’s Molly Ringwald. And I can offer no higher a compliment.

That’s a nice little tribute – and a pretty quick piece, if Cliff drew it yesterday.
Not entirely sure that Dick Grayson is the DCU’s Ally Sheedy though…

If the Teen Titans actually reverted back to thisage/appearance, I’d be a reader for sure. Nice art, Cliff!

No disrespect… but didn’t Jason Pearson do all of his covers for The Loners based on posters for John Hughes movies?

@Tannerama: Yes, but that was an artistic choice. This is a particular sort of tribute to Hughes, who died suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday.

If you read Chiang’s comments on the blog entry, he had actually had it all drawn up but not finished when this happened.

Its part of a series of 1980s homages he’s doing on his website, apparently for a friend who owns a night club. There’s also a superhero take on the album covers for Purple Rain (with Batgirl), Flashdance (with Elektra), and a Duran Duran cover (with Vampirella).
