One of my joys, as a Robin Hood fan, are the few issues of ROBIN HOOD TALES from the mid-1950s. Quality (Blackhawk, Plastic Man, others) produced 6 issues of a bland Robin Hood to capitalize on the Richard Greene TV show. DC bought Quality and continued the title for 7(?) more issues - with wild Robert Kanigher stories illustrated by the dynamic artists Russ Heath, Joe Kubert, and Ross Andru! Robin Hood Comic Book Gold!

Alan Moore tackled many of the Nedor heroes in a great Tom Strong story a while back. Great story! And the Charleton heroes had actually been revived once before DC got hold of them in an indy named Americomics. Pretty cool stuff if you can track the issues down.

Don't forget AC comics; their mascot character, Ms. Victory, was originally a WWII comic book character, and their nuerotic Yankee Girl (another WWII heroine) has to be seen to believed.

I've gone on record as saying how much I loved the Impact line. My name runs like a cancer through the books' lettercols. If you look at the talent who worked on the book, it's like a who's who of comics - Waid, Rags Morales, Tom Lyle, etc. Mike Parobeck's art was a joy to behold, and it's a shame that diabetes and what appeared to be critcally low self-esteem kept him from being all he could be in the business.

Of all the characters that got folded into another company's books, I'd say Captain marvel was the biggest success (last couple of years notwithstanding)

I was under the impression that DC has Plastic Man for longer than they had Captain Marvel - indeed, They had him back when the Elongated Man was created, and Carmine said in an interview that if they'd know he was available, theywouldn't have bothered creating Ralph. Lucky us for them not knowing.

With both the Western and Red Circle characters, we've got characters who were ony revamped a decade and change ago, and (IMHO) pretty well. The temptation is to go with something totally new, but in a couple cases, the stuff done last time was pretty damn good. So too with Marvelman - some wonder if anything new can even come close to the quality of those stories from the first revamp. It'll be interesting to see.
