Tell Me What to Read: Out of Witty Titles

August 4th, 2009

Leave me alone, it’s late and I’m sleepy but it occurred to me that I hadn’t posted my books for this week. I’m still geeked for Greek Street, though it’s only issue #2, and I’ll be picking up North 40 #2 as well, even though tentacle monsters aren’t usually my thing.

Also, of course, there’s The Boys, and there’s another of these Warren Ellis Avatar novellas, this time something that I’m really into, Frankenstein’s Womb. OK, the title’s rather gross, but I love the original Frankenstein and I’m a sucker for what I suppose could be called literary origin stories, or stories about the writers of famous works that speculate on how they came to be.

So, my dears, as usual, it’s time for you to tell me what I’m missing…

I’m surprised you haven’t read (or it doesn’t seem to) any Love & Rockets. There’s a new Locas collection from Jamie Hernandez from Fantagraphics. Mmmm…grrrrl power!

Well, since you’re not much of a superhero fan I doubt you’ll be interested in Agents of Atlas #9, Spider-Man #601, Invincible Iron Man #16, or Captain America: Reborn #2. BUT Mike Mignola’s Witchfinder In The Service Of Angels #2 is coming out and if you like Hellboy then this would probably entertain you.

Second to the Locas collection, one can never go wrong with Los Bros Hernandez. From the more mainstream side House of Secrets 16, I just read the first trade and have just ordered the second.

Do you read Echo or Secret Six? Both are mid-arc right now, but worth checking out.

An interesting discussion is worth comment. I believe that you need to write extra on this matter, it won’t be a taboo topic however usually people are not sufficient to talk on such topics. To the next. Cheers
