I guess you’ll have to say “Jennifer Love Drew-it.”
The Ghost Whisperer star will be launching a 10-issue series with IDW, MTV reports. The series, called the Music Box, will focus on the horrific stories surrounding an old heirloom.
“The chance to create my very own comic, and a horror/thriller at that, is like a very fun nightmare come true,” Hewitt told MTV. “I’ve always been fascinated by the notion that an inanimate object can hold as much malevolent energy as a human being can. And when they two meet, or are at cross purposes, very bad things can happen.”
Scott Lobdell will be writing the series, while Casey Maloney and Adam Archer will provide interior art. Michael Gaydos will provide the series with painted covers.

So if Scott Lobdell is writing it, and Casey Maloney and Adam Archer are providing art (with Michael Gaydos on cover duty), what exactly is Jennifer Love Hewitt doing with this book?
Oh, that’s right, she’s providing her name because someone thinks that it will help sell a few more copies. Lame.
What’s sad is that the book may be very good. Lobdell is a decent writer, and I’m unfamiliar with the artists. The problem is they are stuck as second stringers to a C-level actress that has little to nothing to do with the actual comic creation process other than slapping her name on the cover and doing a few quick interviews.
Why can’t actors/actresses leave the comics to the professionals? Am I off base here?

I was at the IDW panel at SDCC and they said that Hewitt came up with the concept and did the plotting, with Lobdell doing the actual scripting and “comic-ization” of it. So while the craft is everyone else, the core concept is Hewitt’s.

How many extra sales do you think her name will add to the book? This is a calculated move, I know, but is there some evidence that JLH’s name will help move units in bookstores or something?

Because they make money. They can use it to platform on to something else. Though some of them are genuine about the craft.

There’s at least one unit here that J-Love Hewitt moves.
