I wish there was a way to skip these posts. Good luck with your efforts, but this comic does not match my interests and is not why I come to Newsarama. I may just unsubscribe from the Blogss@Newsarama RSS feed since there does not seem to be a way to filter out particular types of posts. Best of luck to you.

Wow these comics are incredibly lame, trite, and insipid. I agree with cabron. What a waste of space.

Try using Add Block Plus and a wildcard in Firefox to remove the picture.
I dumped the RSS a long time ago because of the level of crap posting on this blog.
Rarely check it anymore and stick to the Newsarama front page now.

I went back and looked through the comments for all 51 previous pages posted on Blogs@Newsarama. I appreciate that there is a lot of discussion both pro and con on this comic. I laud your effort and hope you have a lot of success with this.

Unfortunately, I have read several pages and have decided it does not match my comic interests. I know we’ve only seen less than 2 issues, but it’s enough for me to make a judgment.

I know one option is to just pass it by on Google Reader. But let me draw an analogy: You go to your comic book shop to pick up your pull list, and every week the clerk puts in the same comic that you didn’t ask for. Yes, you can put it to the side, not pay for it, and not read it. But shouldn’t I be able to say “stop putting this in my pull list?” I think so, which is why I will unsubscribe.

As a note to Newsarama Webmasters: I understand your decisions for running this comic. I’m sure that the number of negative comments represent a small fraction of your total readership. I would suggest you look into simple content filtering mechanisms such as the URL-based not: system used by Gawker Media websites such as Kotaku and io9. Thank you.

(Sorry for the multi-post, but it was being flagged as spam.)

  7. Matthew M Says:

Or simply replace this comic with something better.

Hey there Cabron and Matthew M,
Thanks for commenting. I believe everyone has a right to their opinions and their right to express them. That being said I disagree with your multiple posts.

I don’t see how the 1.5 seconds it takes you to scroll past my comic (or any other article on this site that you might not enjoy) can possibly be so terrible a thing. I mean seriously? It all seems very petty to me. You see, the internet isn’t like your local comic book store. There you signed up for a service and asked them to pull certain items for you. Here on Newsarama the site services many readers, varied interested, and different ideas on what’s good and what’s bad. Suggesting a site remove something because you don’t like it is absurd. Every internet site provides many features, and I, as an avid internet user, scan the features for the ones I like, click or pause on the ones I want to read, and simply scroll past the ones that I don’t. That’s how media works. TV shows you don’t like, you just don’t watch them or change the channel. Movies? You don’t rent them or pay to see them. Magazines? You turn the page. The internet? You use that little scrolly device and zip past it in no time.

I find it sad that people feel they can be horribly rude and awful to something they don’t like, demanding it to be removed. Just because they don’t like it. It’s perry, it’s rude, and the sad reality is that the world doesn’t revolve around you or your likes and dislikes. I suggest you use that scroll function on your mouse, or just the scroll bar on the right, and enjoy all the other many awesome features here on Newsarama.
    Many thanks!
    Brian

Actually, what you said about magazines/internet makes sense. My analogy wasn’t very good. Web sites are more like magazines: I should be ready to flip the page. With that in mind, it’s editorial’s decision to select content, and they’ve repeatedly shown commitment to your work. So I don’t have a strong argument for requesting your work removed based on my personal opinion.

    @ Matthew M

Just out of curiosity, is it MORE or LESS “trite and insipid” than whiney little fanboys who feel that any open forum means we all REALLY want to hear your personal and well thought out negative criticisms on someone else who is willing to do something they love and put it out there, all pink and naked just to have some little inexperienced rat-faced twit attempt to make themselves look superior, crapping on someone’s work by cashing in on the “high end”, hurtful ten cent words you so OBVIOUSLY use in everyday conversation?

    …because i would say “less”…

  11. Jaavik Says:

Cabron, that was not directed at you… you have more class, however, your suggestion would probably be more easily responded to if directed to the Newsarama WEBMASTER directly, rather than the artist whose work you are wanting to skip over. I’m not sure the webmaster regularly scans the artist’s forums…

What you are doing now, is similar to standing next to someone in line and talking to the person next to you about what you find unappealing about the other, in a voice loud enough for all to hear.

    It’s a little rude.
