Via MTV, there’s an interesting tidbit from Nicholas Cage, in which he says he would like to “do a reconceive” for a second Ghost Rider film:
Hmm… on the one hand, while the first Ghost Rider was certainly a disappointment, I don’t know how I feel about this. International Ghost Rider? Less western? More Nicholas Cage? What say you, Rama readers?

As someone who enjoyed the first movie despite or perhaps because of its badness, I have to say that the most charming part of it was that it was a Western with Red Neck appeal. Idk how good a Nicholas Cage goes around the world with a flaming skull would be…

I think I’m in the minority in that I quite liked the first Ghost Rider – hey, the character looked 100% spot on, and for Ghost Rider that’s half the battle right there. But if they did a sequel they would have to emphasis more of the actual dark fantasy elements – like, you know, how about a Mephisto that actually likes like Mephisto?

If you’re going to reboot Ghost Rider, leave Cage out of it. Get Kiefer Sutherland to play Johnny Blaze, as he actually looks the part. The only good thing about the first Ghost Rider movie was the special effects, the rest was awful. That’s what you get for letting the guy who directed the Daredevil movie direct it.

If I were to make a recommendation, I would suggest removing all of the awful that was in the first one. Just too much awful for my liking.

I’m also one of the seemingly few who liked the Ghost Rider movie. But if they’re going to do an international Ghost Rider, they need to borrow a page from Jason Aaron’s run. He showed what Ghost Riders from other cultures would like like.

On one hand, I think ANY Ghost Rider is better than no Ghost Rider.
On the other hand, I liked Fantastic Four 2.

Scrap the whole thing and go back to basics. I’m even talking about the mess that the current series has become.
Leave Cage out, he was the first big mistake and there needs to be a separation of which Ghost Rider we have in the movie. Taking bits from the Blaze and Ketch Riders was a mess.
I would disagree that ANY Ghost Rider is better than no Ghost Rider if this is the sort of garbage we’re stuck with.

I wanted to see Peter Fonda playing an older Johnny Blaze in the first movie anyway, so you could have three generations of Ghost Rider in action. You could just expand the premise in a direct sequel instead of a revamp. Go grindhouse like Jason Aaron has and go for a more original storyline. The filmed script was pretty generic.
