Cool, I like that choice. Not my first choice, but I’m happy with it. I’ve been a fan of Ryan Reynolds for years.

Awesome! i’m so happy it’s not Timberlake.

  3. Lan Pitts Says:

You know, I’m not the usual fanboy/hater…but I’m gonna hate on this for a while.

I highly approve of this casting. Totally unexpected and it never even occurred to me that Ryan Reynolds would or should even be considered for Hal, but I think it’s awesome. I’m totally on board for it. You all have no idea how happy this makes me. I’ve been waiting for a Green Lantern movie my whole life and for them to cast someone as awesome as Reynolds…I’m extremely happy. The only down side is that we have to wait until 2011.

    Bring it on!

    Renolds is going to become one of those “COMIC BOOK MOVIE” stars. First Deadpool/Weapon 11, and now Green Lantern? I am afraid of what follows. What if Marvel or DC casts him for a role in a movie, where later on there’s a sequel that plays parallel to Green Lantern, what then? does he play both? The directors better cast with care. I am upset that they didnt do an african american green lantern. Thats the one I grew up with. Why not Wayne Brady? (;

Could be worse, could be better. Gonna keep an open-mind and hope it turns out well.

I want to be pissed at this but actually…it’s not that bad of a pick.

Nope, sorry, not happy with this one. I like Reynolds but this is just not the kind of part for him. I think Cooper may have been a better pick. But hey, I don’t want to tear into him. Prove me wrong Mr Reynolds, please, prove me wrong.

I’d say this almost guarantees he won’t be Deadpool. Honestly, I doubt Fox would have done a good job with Deadpool, anyways. And I’m someone who isn’t really a fan of the character to begin with!

I give this movie a 35% chance of actually happening judging from Warner’s track record with DC superheroes. Unless you’ve all forgotten about George Miller’s JLA, Joss Whedon’s Wonder Woman, Goyer’s Green Arrow/DC villain prison flick and Singer’s Superman sequel.

I too wanted to be pissed off at anyone chosen who wasn’t Fillion or Boreanz (and, no, neither one is too old… Three words: Robert Downey Jr.). But… I’m not too upset about this. In fact, I’m OK with it.

I’m not quite sure I see Reynolds as Hal, he seems more Flash to me, but I think he might be good. He did OK what little he was given to do as Deadpool. Playing GL seems like a better move than playing Deadpool anyhow. This film honestly seems like it’s going to happen, and best of all it’s not a FOX production!

At least this isn’t freakin’ Timberlake! That could’ve been a disaster of epic proportions.

Really, it just comes down to a solid script and equally solid effects/direction now. We’d all love this to be a Star Wars for the 21st century, so let’s cross our fingers.

Understandable, if you grew up with the JL/JLU animated shows (not that they were that long ago, but I know what you mean)… John Stewart was a great character on that show. I think he’s never been as well-defined in the comics though, and that’s a shame. I would hope, if a first GL movie does well and spawns sequels, that John would be brought into the Corps. I’d rather see him than Guy or Kyle (no offense to fans of either character).

So who should play John? Sorry, I couldn’t take Wayne Brady seriously. Will Smith is overexposed, and then it would become a “Will Smith movie.” Avery Brooks and Sam Jackson are too old (unfortunately), and Jackson’s got the Nick Fury thing going anyhow. Any ideas?

I’d give this better odds than that. This seems to be a lot farther along than JLA 90210 ever got, same with the Green Arrow/”Supermax” movie. The movie has a script that’s apparently moving along fine, a director, a filming date, a targteted release, and now a lead actor. This just seems like a more viable project than those other two projects ever did… JLA is now DOA, though I haven’t heard anything about Supermax in a good long while (for the best, IMO).

After TDK, I believe WB’s taking the DC projects seriously, and they seem committed to making GL happen. Superman’s in limbo right now, but that’s WB’s fault for buying into Singer’s love letter to Donner. GL’s got serious film potential, and I think it will happen. I’m just hoping it will be good.

At least they scrapped the proposed Jack Black vehicle… Miracles can happen!
