Yeah, I think Cable killed his actual son.
And Stryfe wasn't Apocalypse's son. He was a clone of Cable. Though I guess Apocalypse did kind of raise him.
Mind you, Apocalypse had an actual son. Holocaust from the Age of Apocalypse alternate reality.

Reed Richards is a pretty crappy father. Building a coma-ray to stop your son from destroying existence sounds nice, but you know he was really thinking, "Yes! For science!"

And Comedian is definitely not the worst. He was bad, but Magneto is way worse. He continually mentally and physically abuses his kids, using Wanda to his own gain and making a mess out of poor Pietro.

Still a great article. There may be hope yet for super hero children.

... Well, I kind of think that David Cain should have been included on the worst list... and I'm a little surprised about the Comedian being #1. But at least Bruce and Ollie were included. That's enough to appease me.

Certainly a lot better than the Moms list... I can quibble a bit about the ordering (particularly of the Worst list), but can't argue too much with the inclusions. (I don't know enough about Reed or Luke to say.)

On the other hand, I'll note the irony of the picture used to illustrate the Deathstroke entry actually being a world-saving mercy, and probably the best thing he's ever done for Joey (a close second to deliberately pushing Rose away in 'best thing he's ever done for his kids', too).

Great nice. Was kind of surprised to see the Comedian in the first slot though. Way to not warn about massive spoilers too. :P

The Blackcat's Batman should totally be canon. Best Batman everrrr.

Hey David, this top ten list is fantastic. Doctor Doom is the best worst dads for sure. All your other picks are pretty solid too. You can post this to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/ and link back to your site. We are trying to create a directory for top ten lists where people can find your site. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.

Mr. Fantastic was one of the Worst Husbands and (IMO) should disqualify him from being a good father. Comedian was a cruddy person, but a worse father than Deathstroke??? Also Wally should be higher, but (as always) thanks for taking the time to do this!

With the comment about Batman, I'm split on whether Alfred should be considered a good Dad. But hey, to some extent Dick and Tim are kinda well-adjusted considering Bruce is such a bad father, so maybe Alfred's had a part in that.

I would posit by having Ben Parker there, you could just as easily have had Alfred. He's been a father to Bruce most of his life, and was even recently acknowledged as much recently.

Meanwhile, I don't think people are being fair who are slamming Wally for taking his family into the Speed Force. *Linda* was the one who, holding the babies, ran to him saying "then we're coming with you". He had no intention of risking their lives, and was in the middle of saying goodbye.

I like these lists alot - The Comedian pick threw me but it's hard to argue with incest and infanticide.

That said, Apollo and Midnighter have done some pretty major stuff for their daughter Jenny...including killing her twin...not sure if that qualifies them as good or bad though...

I'm surprised no one's brought up Spider-Man and tried tying the OMD story into some asinine reason as to why he's a bad father (yeah, I've seen it before).

The BND haters must not be in force today.

I feel as if Alberto Reyes should be higher since unlike some of the more classic incarnations of fatherhood, like Ben or Jor-el. He didn't need to die to be an inspiration to his son. He treats both of his children fairly not neglecting the non-super daughter. He also provides fatherliness to Jaime's friends.

Although... I totally agree the black cat's batman would rock the socks off in the good daddy collection. Even if he got a bit excited about the JLA picnic...

I feel as if Alberto Reyes should be higher since unlike some of the more classic incarnations of fatherhood, like Ben or Jor-el. He didn’t need to die to be an inspiration to his son. He treats both of his children fairly not neglecting the non-super daughter. He also provides fatherliness to Jaime’s friends.

As much as I love the character, Ollie Queen needs to be higher. The fact that he hasn't ever actually TRIED to kill his kid is the only thing keeping him out of Dr. Doom territory, but he's certainly worse than Cyke.

Ted Knight should've been Number 1 on the good side... Given what he went through and did in the Jack Knight Starman books.

Blue Beetle's father, as well as the rest of his family and friends, is a huge reason as to why I love the comic. To have a teen character whose family knows he's a superhero, supports it, and gets involved in some of the battles themselves, while keeping it realistic and touching... that's some incredible story-telling.

They mentioned Cable but only about Hope. What about his REAL son, Genesis? Why no mention of that? Probably because the writers are lazy and stupid!

If knowledge about Cable is an intelligence test of some sort, I just may be the dumbest person on the entire planet.

I'd put Cyclops in the No. 1 position as worst dad. The guy is the biggest heel in comics history. He's supposed to be a good guy -- the LEADER of the good guys, in fact -- but he treats his women and his kids like absolute shit, and then usually deals with it by moping around with his self-pitying attitude. He up and left Maddy, sent their baby into the future, cheated on Jean, has almost no interaction with Rachel, and now is lying to Emma about X-Force (mind you, she's doing the same to him about Osborne, but still). Worst dad ever.

Nice lists. One problem - in the Comedian's entry, the word is unequivocally nor unequivocably.
