I also felt like I wasn’t “done” with Bucky-Cap, but my hope is that there are some great Steve Rogers stories coming, and that Bucky gets his own title or shared space in the Captain America title to continue his growth.

I am one of the few who isn’t big on Brubaker’s Capt. America work. But even I wasn’t clamoring for Cap’s return. The fans are happy, the book sells, and the kind of stories Bru tells work better with Bucky than with Cap (or at least with the take on Cap I prefer). Yes, we all knew that this was going to happen. But I can’t say it really makes sense.

Except from a sales PoV, and that’s what matters, right?

Also, for the record, I was one of those who did want Hal back, and now I prefer Kyle. I never expected that, but I find the current take on Hal is very offputting.

I’d prefer to see Bucky continue his career as the Winter Soldier. Steve Rogers returns to a world where Norman Osbourne has taken over (essentially), Tony Stark is on the run, there are three teams calling themselves Avengers, the Wasp has died, not everything was what it seemed before he died, and theres unfinished business with the Red Skull. I think theres lots of interesting stories to be told with Steve Rogers return.

I have the utmost faith in Ed Brubaker’s ability to turn this into a hell of a story. Dude brought Bucky back and made him a badass–that earns a hell of a lot of cred in my book.

However–Bucky is a much, much more interesting Cap than Steve Rogers could be at this point. Please, Marvel, if you must bring Rogers back, let him return with a new identity. Nobody’s using “Nomad” anymore, after all.

I’m not wild about Rogers’ return as I’m loving Bucky-Cap.

Then again, I have total faith in Brubaker’s ability to make me love the story either way.
