Two things of note happened at last nights MTV Movie Awards: Sasha Baron Cohen sexually assaulted Eminem, and a new clip from the upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra premiered:
The clip shows the Joe team trying and spectacularly failing to stop the Baroness and Storm Shadow from destroying the Eiffel Tower. It looks… well, it looks pretty ridiculous, to be honest with you. Sienna Miller’s Baroness looks to be one of the highlights of the film, and I can’t wait to see more of Byung-hun Lee as Storm-Shadow. But the Joes jumping around in armor like video game characters? That’s not quite what I was hoping for. I’ll reserve final judgment until I see the movie, since the first Transformers flick greatly exceeded my low expectations. But I have to admit this clip has left a bad taste in my mouth.

You mean you’re still going to see it? You’re made of sterner stuff than I, my friend.

Masochism is a useful trait when going to see your favorite comic book or cartoon remade into a movie. Sigh, I will go too.

Channing Tatum looks like such a punk, he’ll ruin the movie.

Two things of note? According to AICN there was new Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince clip (or trailer?) too… I haven’t checked it out yet, but I consider that of far greater importance than anything involving G.I. Joe or Eminem. I’m indifferent about Bruno. Cohen’s funny, but I can only take so much of his stuff.

DVD for me… Seriously, I’d rather watch the old animated series.

Those stupid armors are gonna ruin the movie, I mean, why? WHY? We never see something like that in the animated series, this should be called “G.I. Joe: The Rise of HALO wannabes”
Peace.

Ortiz, you hit that nail right on the head. And Corey, you’re right about Sienna Miller in this particular clip. Everything that I liked about the trailer that was with Star Trek (Christopher Eccleston as Destro? Okay. That might be what makes me go see the thing right there.) felt so… rushed here. If this was just something strung together, good. If this was the sequence without plot exposition? -Very- bad.

Why does the Baroness have an American accent? She’s supposed to be vaguely European, and Sienna Miller’s from the UK.
