I saw your profile and believe you would be an outstanding fit for the new casting starring Megan Fox, Josh Brolin, and John Malkovich. This national casting call is seeking [your town here] movie extras and will start production soon. There is no experience needed and all looks and types are encouraged to apply. I would like you to apply to this casting call, it will be necessary that you contact me promptly if you would like to be a part of this project. Jerry

If it’s similar to the one that I’ve seen advertising lately (likely it IS the one that’s been advertising lately) I’m betting blind that they have very little actual connections to the entertainment industry, save possibly for a subscription to the casting call newsletters that go out (often for free) and list all the calls for extras for productions. I remember seeing such newsletters for sale at bookstores in actor-heavy NYC.
In short, I suspect they are of…I shall be polite…questionable efficacy. there are similar firms offering help getting into modeling, with only a small fee for whatever expenses they can think up.
