DC gives first look at Captain Atom co-feature

Over at the Source, DC Comics has announced that CAFU (the artist of Vixen: Return of the Lion) will be pencilling the Captain Atom co-feature:

What do you think? I’m thinking the pencils show a lot of promise — if DC can put a good colorist on this, it’ll sing.

The co-feature will be written by current Superman group writers James Robinson and Greg Rucka, and will appear in Action Comics.

DC head honcho Dan DiDio said that in this co-feature Captain Atom would “be returning to be a key figure in the DC Universe” — based on Atom’s actions as the villainous Monarch during Countdown, it’ll be interesting to see how Robinson and Rucka will execute this character’s redemption.

I would say by ignoring Countdown altogether, like most other writers have done.

This is killing me. I have collected Superman for years and years now. But replacing Superman for a year with Nightwing and Flamebird, combined with raising the price for a backup starring a character I don’t care about is really pushing me to drop my subscription.

If it was any other book, I would pull the plug.

This looks sick and is going to force me to go buy!

  4. Brenticles Says:

Just ignore Countdown, it was some other guy from another reality, whatever it takes to let that stinker die and be forgotten. You can’t write a good story by trying to explain a bad one.

  5. Brenticles Says:

The art looks great by the way!

    This art looks great.

I didn’t even know Ataom was Monarch…. How does that tie in with his stint in the Wildstormiverse?
