Tom Brevoort, via his Blah Blah Blog, released some new Captain America images over the Easter weekend… but one that stood out for me was this:
Could this be a new identity for Natasha Romanov? Sharon Carter? The Bucky from Heroes Reborn? Or a whole new player? Discuss!

Really thought the HR Bucky had alot of potential. At the end of the Onslaught series, she was stuck in the Marvel Universe. maybe there was a reason behind this

Looks a lot like Natasha to me. Her as the new Bucky would be interesting. Regardless, I’m on board. Bru continues to rock on this title.

That is not Natasha, that is Rikki Barnes. She is wearing Rikki’s costume, has Rikki’s haircut and there is frankly no reason to even sort of assume she is Natasha or anyone else.

it’s Rikki, the only worthwhile character from Ne-Earth or whatever it was.
The more important news is that Rafael Albuquerque is doing some art for Marvel, that piece included. That’s awesome

The title is “Captain America #600 sketch,” so it could just be a pin-up in the back of the issue. Maybe a series depicting different characters from Captain America over the years. Does Marvel still include that kind of thing in anniversary/annual issues?

If they strip Black Widow or Agent 13 of their OWN identities, to shove them in a SIDEKICK role, I’m going to have to stab somebody.

If DC is trying make Barbara Gordon BatGIRL again (one hopes not), why shouldn’t Marvel do something equally demeaning to Black Widow? I guess that would free up the name for the BW in Thunderbolts. I would much rather have Rikki, who was an interesting charcter.

Rikki Barnes, as confirmed by the artist — newly un-DC exclusive Rafael Alburquerque. Hot!

Don’t panic. It’s Rikki, the goggles are a dead giveaway. Much as I love them, they’re out of style. Natasha or Sharon wouldn’t be given a new identity in 90s style costume updates.
I’m glad someone’s picked up the HR character, even if it’s just for a backup story.

Initial reaction, I was resistant to this b/c Heroes Reborn was mostly crap. But if I have faith in anyone to make it work, it’s Ed Brubaker. I dont like his team stuff, but his solo titles are some of the best Marvel puts out.
It could make a nice set-up. If Bucky is to truly take on the role of Cap, he would need a sidekick that molds who he is as much as Bucky molded Steve Rogers. (Bucky only considers how Cap molded him. But one of Steve Rogers’ fundamental character motivations afer waking up in the present were his memories of Bucky.) If Bucky’s underlying insecurity is he could never “replace” Steve b/c he lacks his innate goodness, setting an example for a sidekick will force him to behave in a way that proves why Cap had faith in him to take over the role. Told by Brubaker, I could dig that story.

I hope it’s Rikki…she and the Young Allies were a cool concept that i hope are now part of the marvel universe proper…I also hope Cap 600 also has Josiah X from the Crew….another great Cap character.

Rikki would be awesome. Hope its her. I’m not a big sidekick person. I guess it comes with the superhero genre.
Although…I do miss Steve Rogers.
