Ain’t It Cool News has posted some photos from the new Iron Man film — which only started filming this Monday — and had some nice photos of stars Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow.
But what I think a lot of people have been wondering about is Don Cheadle, who took over the role of James “Rhodey” Rhodes after Terrence Howard was let go from the film under still-disputed circumstances. Cheadle has gotten much critical acclaim for his performances in Hotel Rwanda and the Ocean’s Eleven franchise… but does he measure up for this important role?
So here goes — the first pic thus far of the future War Machine himself:
…Now discuss.

Don Cheadle wearing a tie. Can you feel the excitement?

…….. A tie with a tie clip!

He seems awfully blue.
(yes, I know he is in air force blues.)

LOL. Definitely feeling the excitement! But wait… No spoiler alerts for this incredibly revealing pic?
Was anyone worried that he wouldn’t be able to pull off “this important role”? Even if (ahem) dons the armor in IM2, I don’t think there was anything to worry about. Terrance Howard was fine, but Cheadle’s a better actor anyhow.
AICN also reported a rumor that Garry Shandling would have role in IM2, but that hasn’t been reported here. The Larry Sanders Show was one my favorite TV shows ever (I wish they’d put the whole damned series out on DVD), but I can’t possibly imagine what Shandling would be doing in an Iron Man movie. Hopefully, if he’s really going to be in it, it won’t be too distracting or out of place.
I guess the excitement of seeing Cheadle in Air Force duds trumps all.

Next up: Mickey Rourke in a polo shirt! Can’t wait!

How can you blatantly steal photos from another site like that?
April 8th, 2009 at 6:12 pm
One out of three images from the properly cited and hotlinked source, with the site named isn’t stealing at all. I would have figured someone who has boldly given themselves the fake name “Dr. Journalism” would know that, and what it actually is, but then again, there are no hard and fast rules that suggest the name you give yourself has to correlate with what you do or know.

Actually, his name appears to be “Dr. Journaism“. I’ll let everyone make up their own punchlines, as I am speechless.
