And now for a double-dose of speculation — Marvel just released the following teaser image today… of something they described as “the all-new, all-deadly Dark X-Men”:
This’ll be an interesting story, I think — I’m curious to see if this is tied in with Norman Osborn’s Dark Reign, or if this is an insurrection from the more “chaotic-good” members of the Cabal. While the Dark Avengers lend a certain cache to Norman, I can only wonder how co-opting the name of the X-Men — traditionally seen as mutant outlaws in the Marvel U — might help.
Based on the lineup there, it’s looking like: Dark Cabal members Namor and Emma Frost, Professor Charles Xavier, Daken (or Dark Wolverine, as we’ll now call him), Cloak & Dagger, joined by the high-flying Mimic (credit for solving that mystery goes to Rama readers Dave and JamesFerguson for their eagle eyes — thanks, guys!) and this guy in the back with the Omega symbol. (Starting guesses: the new Vindicator from Omega Flight, or a spin-off of Russian villain Omega Red.)
Either which way, talk amongst yourselves.
April 2nd, 2009 at 12:47 pm
It’s Mimic with the wings, not Jay Guthrie.
April 2nd, 2009 at 1:01 pm
Could the “unknown winged mutant” be Mimic? He’s got a big M on his chest and his eyes are red.
April 2nd, 2009 at 1:21 pm
This looks interesting. I am about Darked out, but the prospect of a Professor X X-men vs. Cyclops X-men could be cool. I wonder if this has anything to do with the Dark Avengers vs. X-men thing this summer…Maybe Cyke gives Emma the boot for allying with Norman.
April 2nd, 2009 at 1:26 pm
*sighs, shakes head & turns away*
April 2nd, 2009 at 1:31 pm
This looks great. Sure they’re milking the “dark” thing for all its worth, but who the heck cares, seriously, so long as the comics are good (and for the most part they are). I’m hoping this is Mike Carey and what X-Men: Legacy becomes.
April 2nd, 2009 at 1:31 pm
X-Force is gonna be so pissed that Emma stole their designer.
April 2nd, 2009 at 1:34 pm
That is not Xavier. It is Shaw with no hair.
April 2nd, 2009 at 1:37 pm
They still count Cloak & Dagger as mutants? Happy to see them, but oy vey. Maybe I’m alone in this, but the mutant angle diminishes the power and originality of their origin.
April 2nd, 2009 at 1:44 pm
Don’t think that’s Emma. She’s got black eyebrows in that image. They want us to think it’s Emma.
April 2nd, 2009 at 1:49 pm
The inclusion of Cloak & Dagger is an interesting twist. They’ve always been grim and gritty but never villains [unless you count The Civil War].
April 2nd, 2009 at 1:54 pm
I like the idea of Namor slowly creeping into the X-Men fold. Also, I LOVE the idea of the Mimic coming back. He’s a character whom I’ve never actually read about in a story, but whose look and history just grabbed me when I read about him back in the original “Marvel Universe Book of the Dead” way back when.
April 2nd, 2009 at 1:56 pm
Remember the “All New, All Deadly” X-Men from the Joe Casey/Steve Seagle era…. the team that an autonamous Cerebro formed when Xavier went missing.
April 2nd, 2009 at 2:00 pm
Ugh, really guys? Another X-Men book?
April 2nd, 2009 at 2:06 pm
I’m not convinced that’s Emma. The hair has a slight greenish tint — could be Polaris. Or if it’s a blonde, it could be Dazzler. Of course, duh, it is most likely Frost, split from Cyclops and allying herself with Chuck after she finds out about X-Force, and/or drafts the Prof to help her construct her own shadow team to help take down Osborne. I assume it’s no coincidence that none of those other members are active X-Men, and several of them have NEVER been X-men. (I think it’s fun that they’re using Cloak & Dagger.) This might be the only Dark Reign spin-off I actually buy, especially if Fraction and Dodson are involved.
April 2nd, 2009 at 2:10 pm
So Daken is going to be on both Dark Avengers and X-Men? Like father like son eh?
April 2nd, 2009 at 2:22 pm
So Namor is on this team, hey? Marvel’s first mutant finally makes it as an X-Man!
Still though I won’t be buying this. I’m sick of “dark” characters. It’s almost as bad as the “grim and gritty” era in the 90′s.
April 2nd, 2009 at 2:25 pm
I don’t think that’s Daken. I think it’s Logan. Looks like the Yellow and Blue costume not the Brown and Tan.
April 2nd, 2009 at 2:28 pm
I really despise the character Daken, and will not buy anything with him in it. It’s led to holes in some of the series I follow, (like X-Men: Legacy), but that’s the price I’m willing to pay.
I’m pretty much tired of Dark _____ at this point. It’s the 00′ version of EXTREME _____ !!!!
April 2nd, 2009 at 2:37 pm
Thats not Xavier. Xavier has blue eyes, not hazel
April 2nd, 2009 at 2:39 pm
Very Cool!! I always wanted Namor, Mimic, Cloak, and Dagger to join the X-Men! This will rock! All we need now are the Beaubier twins and Firestar!
April 2nd, 2009 at 2:53 pm
this is Emma’s answer to Norman’s Dark Avengers. This will be good.
April 2nd, 2009 at 2:59 pm
Is “Dark” the new “New”?
April 2nd, 2009 at 3:02 pm
hmm. Decent idea, but can’t help but wonder… ‘why’?
April 2nd, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Even though we are getting hammered with Dark-this, Dark-that, I really like the idea of this team. I’ve always wanted to see Namor on an X-team, given his status as “Marvel’s first mutant”. Cloak and Dagger are interesting choices, too. I think this will be fun.
April 2nd, 2009 at 3:07 pm
Dark X-Men huh. Are Cloak and Dagger mutants? Not that the need to be to be X-Men, just curious. Also, perhaps the omega guy is Kyle Gibney back in his Weapon Omega persona.
April 2nd, 2009 at 3:23 pm
How many teams can Wolverine be on, anyway? (I know it’s identified as Daken, but, it looks more like Logan’s costume)
I thought X-Force already was a “Dark X-Men.”
And really.. .how long can these “Dark _____” books last in the long run?
April 2nd, 2009 at 3:38 pm
NAMOR?!?!?! On a team? without Cap? I am surprised no one has mentioned that yet.
April 2nd, 2009 at 3:49 pm
That’s Wolverine, not Daken (3 claws per hand instead of 2). Great to see Calvin Rankin back btw.
April 2nd, 2009 at 3:54 pm
Man, they won’t let the “Cloak and Dagger are actually mutants” bit die, will they?
April 2nd, 2009 at 3:55 pm
Is that really cloak? I’m sorry but he looks white to me. I’m thinking either Magneto or Exodus.
April 2nd, 2009 at 4:00 pm
When did Cloak and Dagger become mutants?
April 2nd, 2009 at 4:02 pm
Oh God, more ‘Dark Chocolate Reign’ titles? I’ll wait until the creative team is announced to keep me interested. Damn you, Secret Invasion and writing hack, I mean Bendis!
April 2nd, 2009 at 4:07 pm
Wow. I just can’t believe Marvel readers keep going for this junk.
Why exactly does every Marvel title need to tell the same story?
April 2nd, 2009 at 4:26 pm
That’s Daken, not Wolverine…two claws on the back of his hand and one from the palm.
April 2nd, 2009 at 4:29 pm
Mimic… Namor… AND CLOAK AND DAGGER. Consider it sold, Marvel.

Wow. I just can’t believe Marvel readers keep going for this junk.
Why exactly does every Marvel title need to tell the same story?
Because we are idiots. I know I am. Every Wednesday, I roll myself down the steps to gain enough momentum to make it to my comic book store, and then I lay at the front door screaming my last name until they give me my weekly comics (all Marvel) and then I pay them with powdered sugar donut crumbs. The store clerk smiles and nods, knowing my mom already paid for the comics, as I am an idiot.
After I’ve read the same comic 17 times, I eat my own farts for dinner. Because I make mine Marvel. And I’m special.
April 2nd, 2009 at 4:45 pm
This seems exciting to me. I am an X-Men fan and this angle seems like it will be fun. I am actually enjoying Dark Reign, it seems realistic that the guy in charge would be a total madman. Fits modern times quite a bit. I am liking Osbourne, he cracks me up. I hope things don’t go back to normal, at least any time soon. I am puzzled by some of the members. The Emma Frost and Professor X do not look like the originals to me. Emma would never wear black and Prof X’s eyes look strange. Namor I am excited to see if he can actually work on a team. Daken (yeah it is Daken, 3 claws, one under the wrist, two above). Cloak and Dagger…i have to Wikipedia that. Didn’t know they were mutants but I am no expert on the two. Thought Mimic died or did he just lay low for all these years? The Omega guy…I am not sure who he is.
I am excited to find out though. This could be great!
April 2nd, 2009 at 5:04 pm
OH look.. ANOTHER TEAM Wolverine is on. Sheesh. How many flippin’ books can they shove him into.
New Avengers
Wolverine
Wolverine Origin
Wolverine First Class
X-Force
Uncanny X-Men
and of course any cross-over specials such as Invaders vs Avengers etc etc.
April 2nd, 2009 at 5:06 pm
1) That IS Daken, look at the claws on his right hand i.e. two on top, one on the bottom. You can’t see the distinction on his left hand.
2) Dagger is still dressed in white, yet Emma changes to a black number that should be noted isn’t nearly as revealing as she normally wears. The color change here should be noteworthy i.e. Black Queen (Emma Frost or someone else) or Malace.
3) There is obviously a skewered color palette in play for artistic reasons, so questions of eye and hair color may be academic.
4) With Xavier’s current journey of redemption going on, that he’d start another clandestine team of mutants and that Emma would join him as protest of… a… clandestine team of mutants… seems less than kosher. I like the idea of a bald Sebastian Shaw, especially given the history they’ve been building between him and both Namor and Xavier in the last year. The underlying concept of “Dark” Avengers was impersonation, and here, we only have one obvious impersonation (Daken) so I think it lends itself very well to the idea that this could be Shaw.
5) Cloak & Dagger were included in The 198 special as being mutants, so there’s that.
6) Michael Pointer, under the code name of Weapon Omega, has been appearing in the on-going Marvel Comics Presents series. Looks like he just tweaked his costume a little bit.
April 2nd, 2009 at 5:14 pm
No ladies and gents, that’s clearly Daken. Take a look at the fist coming up from behind Emma (or whoever). Take a look at the orientation of the claws. Two from the top of the hand, one front eh wrist. Daken.
April 2nd, 2009 at 5:19 pm
People have a problem with Cloak & Dagger being possible mutants and joining the X-Men, but not Mimic? Mimic’s no mutant.
April 2nd, 2009 at 5:29 pm
This was only a matter of time. I’m a huge X-Men fan, so I’m definitely going to be checking this out. I think this is Emma and Namor rebelling against Osborn. I also think that is Xavier. I think this may be tied to the return of Jean in Uncanny in June.
April 2nd, 2009 at 5:44 pm
man, I can’t believe this many people aren’t aware that Cloak & Dagger are mutants. also, that is obviously Daken. he has a claw sticking out from the inside of his wrist.

April 2nd, 2009 at 5:59 pm
Just want to add, for those who don’t get the difference between something like this and X-Force, X-Force is under the banner of the X-Men proper and are handling secret missions. These “Dark X-Men” are most likely (I would speculate) going to serve a similiar purpose as the “Dark Avengers”. They will be sold to the people (of Marvel’s Earth) as being the true X-Men. And no matter what, even if I am wrong about that, they have Namor on the team, which automatically connects them to DARK REIGN because of his place in The Cabal. And I’m sure their mission is not going to be to secretly murder anyone who is a threat to the mutant race, ala X-Force, either.
April 2nd, 2009 at 6:09 pm
Looks like Daken to me…anyone notice the claw arrangement on “Wolverine’s” right hand(and the color too-it’s black)? Two on top,one poppin out below from the underside of the wrist.
Oh yeh…
WOOOOOOOOO NAMOR!!!!!CLOAK AND DAGGER TOO!!!!*Collapses*:D
April 2nd, 2009 at 6:16 pm
But I can’t wait for the New Young X-treme^3 Dark X-Men.
April 2nd, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Um…couldn’t this just be an April Fool’s prank? Wishful thinking, maybe.
April 2nd, 2009 at 6:47 pm
Charlie apparently grew some sideburns.
April 2nd, 2009 at 7:01 pm
I’m suprised everyone thinks it’s Namor and not Jean-Paul Beaubier, AKA Northstar from Alpha Flight. This makes more sense to me.
April 2nd, 2009 at 7:52 pm
Hmm…
Dark, dark, dark, dark.
What’s next? Since there were several scenes in Secret Invasion that had Howard the Duck. Will there be a Dark Howard the Duck? Perhaps the emergence of Darkwing Duck as a new member of the Dark Ani-vengers!
April 2nd, 2009 at 8:07 pm
I think you meant Astonishing Uncanny New Young X-treme Dark X-Men Mutant Force, Hugo…
April 2nd, 2009 at 8:08 pm
well if it’s not a prank here are my thoughts
the bald guy could be gamesmaster (the upstarts guy)
haven’t heard from him and he’s a powerful bald telepath
as for the blond, could be regan wyngarde
if it is xavier it would be hard to imagine him working for osbourne
April 2nd, 2009 at 8:10 pm
Mimic may not be a mutant, but can’t he only absorb/copy powers from mutants, and not other superpowered sorts? If so, well that’s something at least.
April 2nd, 2009 at 8:29 pm
Hopefully, the sky in the Marvel Universe will get so dark, we won’t be able to see anything that’s going on.
April 2nd, 2009 at 8:38 pm
As much as I would want to read this (and most other dark reign tieins and spin offs) i cant afford it. All these extra series are running 3.99 an issue..what a rip.

a) Marvel is putting out tons of great books.
b) You haven’t read the story yet and know NOTHING about it, so you have no place calling it junk. Don’t be a dolt.
April 2nd, 2009 at 9:55 pm
I’m pretty sure that’s not Cloak…looks like Exodus to me.
April 2nd, 2009 at 10:01 pm
@ Jon Trouten
Mimic has been around and related to the X-books so long he pretty much registers as “mutant” to most of us. Or maybe he’s been discovered to be a mutant after all.
Glad that’s Daken and not Wolvie. Don’t know much about him, so maybe this will shed some light on him for me.
April 2nd, 2009 at 10:13 pm
Is that Prof X? Or Norman Osborn with a shaved head? HHmmm.

It’s not Emma, hair is greenish. But it’s not Polaris cuz it’s a light green. It’s Vertigo. Now is that really Xavier?
April 2nd, 2009 at 11:01 pm
I’m glad Marvel is dusting off Cloak and Dagger. Hopefully this isn’t a new series but a group ready to appear in the pages of one of the existing X-Books. We don’t need yet ANOTHER title in the multi-multi-multi book spanning Dark Reign saga. In these economic times I hope the House of Ideas is moving toward self-contained stories in it’s books rather than away from them.
April 2nd, 2009 at 11:45 pm
i think its selene, not emma
April 3rd, 2009 at 12:38 am
Cloak and Dagger used to have a book called “The Mutant Misadventures of Cloak and Dagger.” That was from the 80s I think.
April 3rd, 2009 at 1:27 am
I can understand the presence of Namor (The cabal), Emma Frost (she will probably spy this X-Men team for her own count) or Daken. But I don’t see how Prof X can be in this team. He should be somewhere with Gambit and Rogue.
It’s more probable that it’s an avatar, maybe Seb Shaw (with an image inducer) manipulated by Frost.
April 3rd, 2009 at 1:28 am
Also, who are these Cloak & Dagger that everybody seems to know ? I’ve never read about them.
April 3rd, 2009 at 1:56 am
Also hope this will be Mike Carey’s Post X-Men-Legacy book. and hope it will not be $3.99 either.

April 3rd, 2009 at 3:07 am
In a couple of years we can look forward to ‘New Dark Secret Avengers: an Invasion World War Tie In’.
April 3rd, 2009 at 3:10 am
Well the art looks beautiful as usual, its Terry Dodson.
April 3rd, 2009 at 3:42 am
i’m gonna guess “alternate reality/dream sequence” and leave it at that for now. it reminds me more of the “alternate” New Avengers cover from back before Secret Invasion (Ronin as Cap, Echo as DD, Dr. Strange in a suit, Spidey as regular Peter Parker) than an actual line up. and with the Dodson artwork, it’s more likely an upcoming Uncanny cover than a new title.
April 3rd, 2009 at 3:54 am
Wow, I can’t believe all of the wild theories as to what this is. Honestly, I doubt it’s anything other than a group of mutants put together and under Norman Osborn’s watch.
April 3rd, 2009 at 4:56 am
• the claws guy is Daken not Logan/Wolverine, the position of his claws shows that 2 are above the hand and the 3rd beneath it (see his right hand).
• sure not Emma, eyebrows are dark, not blond.
• same for “Prof X” who’s not Xavier. Someone wrote earlier here it could be Shaw and I agree with this idea.
• Cloak ? strange face, looks more like Exodus than Cloak for me.
April 3rd, 2009 at 6:35 am
Well since everyone else is chiming in, I might as well:
- Looks more like Polaris than Emma.
- Cloak does look more like Exodus. Maybe having Dagger there is throwing us off. We simply expect it to be Cloak.
- Good call on the sideburns and eye colour- that ain’t Prof. X.
- I’m pretty sure that’s Namor, not Northstar, as has been suggested. For starters, he’s too big to be Northstar. Also the detailing on the front of his costume looks like scales.
- Is it too obvious to be Mimic? Why is he in such heavy shadow? Who else could it be?
“And really.. .how long can these “Dark _____” books last in the long run?”
As long as the DARK REIGN event lasts. Don’t kid yourself, this IS an event. Once its over, the Dark books will change their names or be cancelled/replaced. They are not meant to run for the next 20 years, they are short-lived, tie-in books.

Side note: Why the hell can’t I post on this site through Firefox?!
April 3rd, 2009 at 8:39 am
Since when is Cloak a white guy? That’s definitely Dagger, but I don’t think that’s Cloak behind her, it looks like Magneto to me.
April 3rd, 2009 at 11:34 am
More like the Dark Avengers than you would notice at first glance:
Exodus is in the role of Professor X
Lady Mastermind? is in the role of Emma
Daken as Wolverine
Mimic as Angel
Michael Pointer as Weapon Omega
??? as Dagger
Exodus as Cloak
Namor as himself and the leader
I reckon they are going to launch after the X-Men vs Dark Avengers.
April 3rd, 2009 at 11:44 am
Oh my god, I LOVE the idea of Namor as an X-Man, especially since Fraction’s started writing him. Yeah, part of me wants this to be Carey’s book, but Fraction is so good with Namor, I’d be soooo happy if either of them are writing.
I really, really don’t want them to call it Dark X-Men though.
April 3rd, 2009 at 12:08 pm
Could the omega bloke be a returned Unus? of age of apocalypse…
April 3rd, 2009 at 12:22 pm
Emma Frost is a bleach blonde, and on top of that, a comic book character. Meaning she can have blond hair with dark eye brows, and she has been drawn that way before. The bald man has arched eyebrows, which Shaw has never had. It’s Xavier. As for Cloak, he has dark skin (Cloak is black). The only think is, he has straight hair (maybe he got a perm or something, some black people straighten their hair). LOL
April 3rd, 2009 at 12:52 pm
Sort of interesting… but I have to say, this entire “Dark” thing in the MU is aleady wearing thin with me (and it just started!).
April 3rd, 2009 at 1:38 pm
Exodus instead of Cloak? It does look that way. I always liked the look of Exodus, but thought he was wasted as a character. That said, though happy to potentially see him again it’s dampened by the possibility of losing Cloak.
Okay, no more speculation. Must see the actual comic. ;-p
April 3rd, 2009 at 3:37 pm
I’m sorry, but why the hell would Exodus stoop so low as to take on the guise of Cloak?
And correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t one of the biggest reveals of the recent UNCANNY annual that Namor hates Shaw? I doubt he’d team with him now.
I also doubt this is going to be it’s own series. I expect to see this team in the pages of whatever issues tie in with the Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men crossover this summer.
April 3rd, 2009 at 3:51 pm
I think the “obvious” isn’t the true obvious…much like Dark Avengers was mostly imposters and a few geunines I think it’s the same here for instance, I don’t think we get randoms like Mimic, Dagger and something Weapon Omega/Vindicatorish and the Emma/Namor/Prof X all on one team.
The 3 big guns are a red herring…I think “Emma” is someone else and the fur on the costume is just making me think Shanna but if this is truly a team of all mutants I’m going to go out on a limb here and take some random guesses..
Prof. X = Legion? Mesmero?
Namor = Northstar (it’s the pointy ears thing)
Emma = Psylocke (her hair technically was dyed purple so with Brian Braddock being blonde Elisabeth could be too, plus the fur on the costume is similar her old Armor costume)
April 3rd, 2009 at 4:35 pm
I think Dark Reign is interesting. I like the evil dopplegangers taking over for the regulars in their monthly books. I also think that this was only a matter of time.
April 3rd, 2009 at 5:58 pm
I can only assume this is what’s spinning out of the Uncanny X-Men/Dark Avengers crossover that’s coming up.
April 4th, 2009 at 1:50 am
The only thing that bothers me about cloak and dagger is that the dark avengers are supposed to be villains attempting to rehabilitate. and i’m assuming that this is the same concept, just for mutants. cloak and dagger haven’t really ever been villains. that said, my dark x-men roster:
Prof.X= The Gamesmaster- he’s been gone for a minute and he’s been an Xavier wannabe for longer. Plus, he’s already bald and Shaw is in the X-men’s holding cells.
Namor= Namor- Osborn can’t put Emma on the team without jeopardizing her position with the actual X-men so Namor can be the Cabal’s eyes on the team.
Emma Frost= Cordelia Frost- Cordelia (emma’s sister) has dark hair, which would explain the eyebrows and a penchant for goth-type clothing, which would explain the black costume. OR Christian Frost (emma’s brother)- following marvel’s new trend of sex-changed characters, Christian, who is at least gay, dresses in drag to impersonate his favorite sister.
Wolverine=Daken- he’s marvel’s new poster boy of course it’s him. unless it’s Wild Child. with Daken gloves on. ew.
Cloak=Vanisher- actually thought to be held by x-force as their “gateway” Osborn could free him and offer him a chance to be on his x-men team. he’s also already worked for the govt. OR it’s Asylum- registered with the initiative and used by thunderbolts. BOTH have darkforce powers but Asylum has long black hair.
Dagger=Darkstar- maybe they scrapped that whole winter guard thing and introduce the new darkstar here. though, why exactly she would join up is a complete mystery. OR Morning Star- though supposedly a mutate she could be an unknown mutant. although another ussr refugee, and a complete unknown.
Omega Guy=Omega Red- he was last seen in SHIELD custody. nuff said. (and none of the alpha flight mutants are baddies, except wild child. and you can’t put both daken and WC on a team without the fanboys losing their minds)
Angel=Mimic- it’s about time he was utilized (arguable mutate status or not, he was at least an x-student if not an x-man. which makes him more appropriate than anyone else)
except for the dagger-possibles and namor all these people could benefit from Osborn or some redemption. I’d read it.
April 4th, 2009 at 6:04 am
what about madelyne pryor as the role of emma? I think this black costume is exactly the same she is wearing now, and i’m not sure but i think she recently have appeared impersonating emma or something liks this.
the others, i’m with AdamXwasRobbed point
April 4th, 2009 at 6:28 am
What about “Emma” being Courtney Ross aka Sat-yr-9?
April 4th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
the one who looks like Emma Frost dressed in black her hair looks kinda green could it be Polaris or maybe its Mandolyne Pryor dressing up like Emma and I’m not to sure the guy next to dagger is cloak it might be Exodus
April 4th, 2009 at 8:41 pm
Has anyone here actually seen a comic with Cloak in it? Because if that’s Cloak, the artist was clearly given incorrect reference materials. Cloak is black, bald, and doesn’t have pointed ears. That is clearly Exodus.
Just because Dagger is there doesn’t mean Cloak is — she’s operated without him twice before on teams. First with the New Warriors and more recently with the Marvel Knights.
April 5th, 2009 at 12:26 am
I like everyones idea that these people are not who they seem to be……..Remember, any one of these folks could be Mystique.
And as for the people bashing even the existence of this book, I’m always stoked for a new X title, as Marvel’s mutants are my favorite part of the Marvel U.
If you don’t like it don’t buy it.

Sad times at Marvel Comics when the way to sell comics is by slapping a “New” or a “Dark” in front of their titles.

Did anybody think that the “Emma” we see might be “Perfection” or some other psychic projection like Charles has done himself so many times.

First, that is definitely Daken as Wolverine. The claws. Two on top and, if you look carefully, one under.
I think that the guy with the omega symbol in the back is Michael Pointer, Weapon Omega. Yes, I know he is in Omega Flight but with Osborn calling the shots, he might decide to relocate him back to the states. After all he is an American mutant from Alaska. Plus, if you look at the design of his costume carefully, you see the scheme is like the Vindicator outfit he’s wearing presently.
Just recently in Dark Reign when the Cabal first met Osborn said something that might be overlooked. He mentions having all mutants and crooks sign up in the Initiative. It wouldn’t be too hard of a stretch that he gets Namor and Xavier because they are high profile public mutants. And Osborn is looking for endorsed public teams like his Avengers. Cloak and Dagger(good choices), most likely signed up with the Initiative at some point. They and Mimic have had questionable histories in the public eye. They could be seen as a public case of bad guys being rehabilitated in the public eye.
As for Emma. If its her, then she made the hard choices that Osborn and Storm once advised her to make at separate times. That choice could be her leaving Cyclops and his X-Men for Osborn’s X-men. That decision could be made all the easier if Jean Gray does come back (again). Hate to be in the midst of that lovers triangle. If its not her, the most likely choice could be her sister Cordelia. Her sister could be trying to emulate her sister with a black version of her sister’s costume as a way of spiting her. Some think its Polaris, but I disagree. She seems to be strictly with Havok and the Starjammers right now. Another possibility could be Lady Mastermind. She was for a short time a member of the X-Men under Rogue. Another “bad guy” telepath working under Osborn.
I think that could be Xavier if he decides to go along at the insistence of some one he trusts other than Osborn. Some one like Emma, Cyclops, or Namor. This could be Xavier’s foray back into the X-game without taking the reins from Cyclops. He did give Cyclops his blessing to operate the team as he see fit. Namor is apparently planning something against Osborn with Doctor Doom for when Osborn “self-destructs.” He could get Xavier on board and in position on the team when they decide to make their move. Also, Xavier would give the team that official endorsement from the founder that this is an X-team. If its not Xavier, it could be The Gamesmaster as someone else mentioned. The Gamesmaster does have the psychic ability to be in contact with the team almost any where in the world. His ability is always on. This could be Osborn’s way of keeping an eye on him. Osborn does like to be on top of things.
I believe strongly that this is Namor. He doesn’t have Atlantis to worry about as he used to. He recently made a pledge to Emma Frost to defend mutants as though they were Atlanteans. Of course Emma lied to him to gain his allegiance. That should prove interesting if Shaw, who Namor believes Emma killed, turns up alive in front of him. Would Namor take his anger out on Emma and all mutants by betraying her? Anyway. Namor could finally become an X-Man. You do realize that when he does this he would have been a member of most of the big teams in Marvel. He’s been in the Avengers, Defenders, Invaders, Illuminati, Cabal and now X-Men.
All in all, this looks like a good attempt for Osborn and the Cabal to get their hooks into the world of mutants. I would definitely be picking up this book. Just out of curiousity.

I think that Emma is Madelyne Pryor she is well known for rocking the fur color’s and will need an out after her next beating. She has the mental powers and her suit is not that far off. Namor is the real deal. All the bigs dogs wind up having to pay their dues to the new world order one way or another, this is his. Cloak and Dagger or them because every dark Team has some people that are not ‘evil’ on it. (Sentry, Ares, New Cap Marvel)

OKAY,
Is it just me that thinks the guy behind Dagger may be a skrull?
I can see pointy ears!!!!!!
COULD IT BE A SKRULLY CLOAK?
Id say that it is definately Namor and almost certainly Charles Xavier, the character is lower like he’s in a chair adn I dont know many other people that look that much like Charles and are in a wheelchair!
I think that its polaris, the hair is drawn in the Polaris way and the clothes arn’t revealing enough for Emma, and its too easy to say that just cos its Dark X men Emma needs black clothes, plus you’ve got the black eyebrows and above all the face is drawn much more like Polaris than Emma,
The Dark Avengers didn’t change their costumes to all black, why would Emma, all the other costumes are the same Dagger, Namor etc id say its Definately Polaris.
could the guy with the Omega symbol be Michael from the Collective story, new suit, he was a mutant and he joined the new Omega flight when Sasquatch asked him 2,
Its definately Daken not wolvie cos on his right hand you can see 2 claws from the top and 1 from the wrist, also they’r the black bone claws and not the shiny adamantium claws
plus would Xavier go on a team with Emma?
thats my say

is it possible that the omega character is Michael Pointer AKA the collective? because his powers (as seen on the covor of Dark avengers 7) seem not unlike those of Pointer
