Entertainment Weekly reports the sad news that Andy Hallett has died. Hallett was best known for playing Lorne, singing demon and ally to Angel. The singer/actor had struggled with congestive heart disease, a condition that he first became aware of near the end of the Angel run in 2004. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel creator Joss Whedon reportedly created the role of Lorne for Hallett after seeing him perform. The character of Lorne continues to have a presence in the Angel comic, published by IDW.

Wow, Andy Hallett was absolutely amazing in Angel. Lorne was always one of my favorite characters from the show, and it made me happy to see his role grow larger and larger with each passing episode. RIP Andy.

To die at 33 (a year older than me) from heart disease…..that is terrifying.
Always liked him as Lorne. Toward the end of ANGEL he really became the guy who didn’t seem to fit in anymore because things had gone so dark and bad – it’s how I felt about the show, so I empathized with him. Plus he was always a good beacon of fun for that show.
I had always hoped to meet him at a convention, too, but he never seemed to do the shows I was able to get to.
Rest in peace, Andy. Wish you hadn’t left us so soon like this, but at least you won’t suffer and hurt anymore.

IT SAD TO READ ABOUT THE DEAD OF ANYONE WHO DIED SO YOUNG. ANDY HALLETT MADE LORNE COME ALIVE. I WAS HOPPING THAT THERE WOULD BE A BUFFY/ANGEL REUNION. IT WOULD HAVE BE INTERESTED TO WHAT HE WAS DOING SINCE ANGEL THE SERIES ENDED. IT WOULD HAVE BE NICE TO SEE HIM ON BONES. GOOD LUCK TO THE FUTURE. YOUR TRULY CHARLES DAVID HASKELL

Wow. R.I.P. Andy Hallett.
You played, by far, my favorite supporting character in ‘Angel’ and you were an amazing talent.
My condolences to your family and friends.

Andy Hallett as Lorne brought new light to the role of a demon. First ol’ boy that played Doyle, now this. God called him home too soon. He will be missed.

Hey Lorne was the man and to hear that Andy Hallet has passed is truly sad news. He had an amazing voice and brought a sense of fun and humor to Angel even as it grew darker God has called home one of his angels indeed.

damn… He was great.

It wouldn’t surprise me if his role on Angel kept growing because it was just so hard not to like the guy. While part of that was him obviously him playing Lorne, you got the sense that he was probably a decent guy in real life as well. RIP.

Rest in peace Andy ( Krevlornswath of the Deathwok Clan )
You where 1 of my favourite actors on the show.
I hate it when (young) people die like that.
33 Is way to young.
Lots of love and kisses from Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

So shocked. Andy, your light went out too soon. Heaven is much better now that you’re there!

Gutted to hear about this. He was an amazing as Lorne, genuinely making me smile with his lil niceties , mischievous humour and devotion to do good for everyone even if it meant getting tough at times which I can imagine is how Andy was too especially if this role was written for him. My sympathies go out to his family and friends, it sounds terribly short but I bet you have great memories that’ll last forever at least. Upset I won’t get to see more of you Andy and would have loved to have met you but I hope you enjoy your new adventure. Ax

Wow. My wife and I met Andy 2 years at the Mid-Ohio Con Comic Book Convention and he was great. He took time out to speak with his fans without rushing you. He will be missed.

Sad to see someone pass at such a young age. I wonder what the CHF was secondary to.

It was such a shame to lose such a great entertainer; Andy really made Angel special and the world will be a little bit sadder without him in it.
