Just found this while cruising the Internet — the Macy’s Day Parade, 1987. (I’m not going to tell you how I old I was when this came out. Just watch the video.)
Anyway, I’m glad to see we’ve come a long way since 1987.
And if you’re asking: yes, that is the theme for Back to the Future, yes, that is Robocop inexplicably on stage, and yes, the Hulk starts hitting himself in the face. I don’t know why.

So there was a time when Willard Scott was less… crazy.

first appearance of the New Avengers?
and Willard was less crazy back then, but still pretty creepy.

Willard Scott was not “less crazy”. He was “more sober”.

Captain America taking on Magneto, Dr. Doom, and Hulk? Please. This is as bad as an issue of New Avengers. [/sarcasm]
Actually this is pretty cool. The inclusion of Powerman was pretty surprising. Also who was that Robocop looking fella after Doom was defeated?

You forgot to list the Enchantress, Joe. She was the first to tangle with Cap, although running through a simplified jungle gym doesn’t really seem all that challenging or heroic…

Robocop was probably on stage because of Marvel’s Robocop cartoon at the time?

We’ve come a long way since 1987? Because last time I brought my kids to Six Flags, they had something that looked just like this, only with a bunch of DC characters.
And less Luke Cage means less goodness.

I think it is ultron. This seems to highlight the whole secret wars crew put out for toys at the time, and ultron as well as doom were part of that.

I’m waiting for the RickRoll…

@TimCallahan: But don’t you see? We have come a long way — we’ve CONTAINED the badness! Six Flags is now our official campy quarantine zone.
