Ha! So funny was the story about the bird/monkey that I shared it with my wife (after chuckling about it to myself for a couple days) and she too found it immensely funny. You great humorist you.

what does brooklyn and florida have in common, besides old jewish couples?

raccoons, and plenty of them. colton, you do not want to corner one of these little bastards.

we see families of them at night walking around like rich landlords.

Silver Springs and the river that runs out of it has wild monkey populations. The theory of how they got there differs, the most common one I've heard is that they escaped during the filming of the old Tarzan movies.

Ah HA! I figured it out. You got the monkey to stand in for you when I interviewed "you" for Play. I'm on to your shenanigans now, Palmiotti. I've known you long enough to know you never articulate yourself as well as the primate did. Ah, what the hell ... it turned out great anyway. This makes, what, like three or four times you've popped up where I'm writing?

Seriously though, thanks for everything, man. Glad you like how the piece turned out.

To be fair would someone in law enforcement take a call from a Brooklyn man about a monkey hanging out in his tree?

I can just picture it: 'Sir, I'm sure a man from NY finds these types of calls to be funny. But we have enough problems with the elderly falling asleep behind the wheel to field calls like this.' ~click~

Monkeys = good times. I got right freaked out the other week when I saw a raccoon for the first time in my back yard.
I got my little sister to go see Watchmen when she told me she was going to go see some other tripe. she didn't get it.

an extra movie review here for you guys: I LOVE YOU MAN: slow, disappointing and predictable on every end of the story, but o.k. if you need a break for an hour and a half. honest, it had a lot of small giggles ruined by the trailer and was i the only guy that thought there was another story attached to the new best friend that got scrapped? I just felt, like i do with most pg rated comedies, it doesn't go far enough...and this was one that had potential, but i left feeling...empty.

let me know what you thought.

I agree 100% with your review of Watchmen, but my main complaint was how much they changed the movie ending from the book. To me Moore's ending was much darker, and better. The Monkey story was funny, thanks for sharing.

Jimmy i love the fact that one of your biggest problems on a sunday is a terroristic monkey. Too funny. The Watchmen review was right on, i think i would slim down the Nixon stuff too. Thanks for a good article, keep it up

Oh and Horace if you like Malin's picture above then check out this month's Maxim. And here is the last questioned asked her:

Anything you'd like to say to the crazed fans about to swarm you?

Answer: I love those fans. They're so passionate, and you don't want to disappoint them. Bur I'm not really Silk Spectre II, and I can't do anything as far as kicking somebody's ass for you. Just say hello. And don't grab my butt.

hey jimmy,

i really liked that realm thing. obvously the story was typical ad stuff, but the whole site and even more so the comic was put together really well. THAT is what a motion comic should be. not that "almost animation but no quite" thing they did with watchmen. i really liked the way the camera moved around from panel to panel and how the motion in the panels were very subtle and limited. the whole thing was very dynamic and very engaging. i hope whoever "directed" it moves on to doing some stuff for entertainment and not ad purposes. i think it could be some cool stuff.

i also hate spoilers in trailers. almost as much as i hate spoilers in TV previews. nothing worse than seeing something like "next week on lost... SOMEONE DIES!"

listen, TV exec guy, just because you're not telling me WHO dies, doesn't mean it's still not a spoiler. now instead of enjoying the show and being genuinely surprised when there's a death, i'm just sitting there, taken out of the show, waiting for someone to die.

However much I think Jimmy is one of the coolest guys I know, the hard truth is that I only read his blogs because he guarantees pictures of good looking ladies.

The monkey situation could have been worse, it could have been a baboon. Evil creatures!

I said it before, somehow the monkey was magically drawn to your house in Florida. Doesn't that speak volumes about Jimmy folks? He's going bananas.

Always a good article. No one can jump from monkey news to movies reviews, boobs and original art like you.

Buy Jonah Hex people! Can't wait for issue #50 with Darwyn, oversized and all....err, wait, that didn't come out right....

d. peace: both .

and colbert can have the monkey if he can catch him. its one of the reasons i didnt rat him out as well...imagine the press people in my yard?

although, it would have been a good tool to push jonah hex

Me talking to the cameras: " i saw the monkey reading the latest issue of JONAH HEX, a wonderful comic put out by d.c. comics each and every first week of the month. I quickly followed the monkey back to its lair and found 5 trade books featuring JONAH HEX that are all available now at local comic shops and on amazon.com"

yeah, i would use that monkey.

<i>"Each morning it has done this and I was dealing with it like any Brooklyn boy would do… I would open up my window and yell at it to shut the hell up."</i>

I LOL'd. You can take the boy out of the city...

Don't let Stephen Colbert know if you plan on harboring and abetting the escaped monkey. He is America's leading crusader against fugitive primates run amok.

Is it just me or does the pictured macaque look a little bit like Keith Giffen if you squint? And by noticing that, am I insulting Keith or complimenting the monkey?

Sorry to hear about your monkey troubles.

RE: Spoilers in movie trailers...
Personally, I hate when that happens, but I'm beginning to realize I may be in the minority. A couple of months ago a friend and I got into a heated discussion about Marley & Me. He was seriously, genuinely upset that nobody told him that...

(SPOILER ALERT)

...the dog dies in the movie. Never mind the fact that most movies about dogs end with the dog dying (Old Yeller, anyone?), but the movie was based on a BEST-SELLING memoir about a DOG DYING. It was the premise of the whole memoir, reflections on a dead companion.

My friend was offended that the studio didn't have a disclaimer on the trailer saying, "HEY! THE DOG DIES IN THIS MOVIE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!" He felt insulted that I was surprised at the fact that he didn't know about the movie when he went to see it. How could he not know? It was only one of the biggest books of last year. Even if he hadn't read it, surely he had heard what it was about.

I don't know. I'm still surprised when I hear about someone taking their kids in to see Watchmen, so what do I know?

'Yates said the monkey was “very streetwise”'

If something weird is going to happen, it's best when it happens to a writer who can appreciate the situation. Thanks for the laugh. Will the monkey get to draw an issue of Jonah Hex? I hear macaques are great with genre work.
