Tintin in 2011. It sounds like one of the boy reporter’s biggest adventures. That’s when we can expect the first in a trilogy of movies by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson of the landmark comics character by the Belgian cartoonist, Hergé. It’s a project that’s been in the works for years but it is finally off the ground.
The claim is that only now has the technology caught up with what’s required to properly bring this comic to the screen. Don’t tell Windsor McCay that. Apparently, “performance capture” special effects is so complex that it is utterly indescribable, at least for those with the most to lose from not finding the words.

They’ve been doing articles and interviews on motion and performance capture for years now - I’m at a loss as to what still can’t be described.
This may be one of the few American productions with a greater name recognition outside the US. Of course, the nice part is you really don’t need to know who Tintin is to enjoy the film, just like you didn’t need to know about Wall-E before you walked. He’s a reporter, he has adventures.
Hopefully we’ll see an assortment of Tintin reprints in new formats in the year running up to the film. Any opportunity to get the character into a new generation’s hands is a good one.

Right, unless you have been paying attention you don’t know who or what this is about. Is it just not media friendly or are we not promoting this film right? Or just an overall lack of enthusiasm for the movie. Can’t be. The names behind this proves otherwise. Names that keep you connected inside the film industry.
