Fox pushes Marmaduke film

March 6th, 2009

The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Fox will be pursuing a big-screen adaptation of Marmaduke.

While it’s too early to tell if the film will be live-action or animation, the studio is hoping it’ll cash in on similar revenues as Marley and Me and Alvin and the Chipmunks.

The gluttonous dog has also appeared on episodes of the Heathcliff and Garfield cartoons.

It just better be faithful to the source material, dammit!!

I’m still holding out hope for that Heathcliffe revival. The old animated series just left too many unanswered questions.

The top five most uninteresting comics in the newspaper:

    5) B.C.
    4) Sally Forth
    3) The Lockhorns
    2) No comics section at all
    1) Marmaduke

I remember Marmaduke being IN the old Heathcliff cartoons, but I don’t remember a thing ABOUT them.

That being said, I don’t see how a Marmaduke movie, which will almost certainly be Live Action/CGI, can be any worse than the others of that genre.

But will they make sure that Marmaduke is fully explained?
