Justice League of America was nominated for something? It hasn’t been all that great as of late.

Zane Pinchback and The Spectre: two of the whitest black guys ever.
Seriously though, Icognegro is a fantastic story. I seem to recall it being told kind of dryly, but the subject matter is really powerful and very relevant. I hadn’t heard of Bayou or The Hole before this, but now I want to track em down.

I think it’s awful that they didn’t nominate a single white writer or artist. The Glyph Awards panel should be ashamed.

Ooo – stunt posting.
And Jeff Marriote is surprised that he is now black.

As is Adam Freeman.
Now he can say all kinds of words that had previously been verboten.

It’s weird that they’d get Valerie D’Orazio (who famously couldn’t tell Steel and Black Lightning apart http://occasionalsuperheroine.blogspot.com/2008/02/three-from-wwii-twelve-2-jsa-12-project.html ). Are any of the judges non-white? It would feel kind of unseemly to have an all-white panel decide what the best in black comics would be. Not that I have a problem with white judges. It just seems strange.
