If you want to see more stuff like this google the word "animatic." It's something that's been used in advertising and TV/Film production for many years now. It's not meant to look slick, just to pitch an idea, made from storyboard art. I wouldn't be surprised if this Black Panther stuff started off the same way. If this is what they're now trying to pass off as "motion comics" expect more disappontments.

"Unyielding dedication to the source material?"

That's really a very nice way of putting it. But -- all niceness aside -- I see it as something else: Cheap, cheap, cheap.

Seriously. I see low ratings on the horizon for Black Panther, which is sad. But who involved cares, really? Hudlin and Djmon get a paycheck -- as well as all others involved.

But what do the kids and long-time Black Panther fans get? A low-budget production with some really...nice...voice-acting. Who are they making this for, the tele-tubbies viewing demographic?

In a world of stiff entertainment competition from animated cartoons (both 2-D and 3-D), movies and video games, this approach just doesn't sound logical.

In fact, it really sounds like they're doing it on the cheap -- pretty much like those Marvel Superheroes 'cartoons' of the 1960s.

That said, it also seems to be a little backwards.

Has no one noticed that both the Motion comics and the Black Panther cartoon share many similarities with the Marvel Super Heroes cartoons from the 60's? Glorified cutout animation
