I sincerely hope that they aren't going to put TOO much of a "different spin" on the story. The original live-action did that. Give us LotR-meets-Star Wars, please. I want Prince Adam changing into He-Man at least once in the film, and Battlecat needs to be in there!

Change the design of the Wind Raider or the Attack Trak and most people won't care. The basic premise has to be the same or this thing isn't going to fly.

the mythology of the setting is just amazing. even the classic He-Man/She-Ra arc with Hordak and Skeletor was well thought out imo.
It's a shame that the reimagined series that came out failed miserably in toy sales despite some really good writing.
Hopefully the new movie fares better.

I was around 8 when the Dolph Lundgren movie came out, and even then, while I liked it a lot, I was disappointed by a few things: 1) they went to Earth, 2) costumes were changed (Teela, Skeletor, etc), and 3) instead of using additional characters from the cartoon, they created new guys (Gwildor, Blade, etc.).
And of course, I went to the theater and saw the animated He-Man/She-Ra movie.

I think this movie has a lot of potential...would love to see He-Man, Teela, Man-At-Arms, and Orko heavily featured, along with Skeletor, Beast Man, Mer-Man, and Evil Lyn as the main villains.

This makes me want to watch some of the episodes on dvd this weekend...

Overall, I would say that it is hard to say one side is more tech or more magic than the other. I mean Trap-Jaw is the evil equivalent of Man-at-Arms. Tri-Clops as well had a heavy tech bent. Both good and bad guys had tech based and magic based characters.

Let us not forget Skeletor did not discriminate, he would go after any item, magical or technological to gain power. I remember he found a magic crystal and used it in a ship's ray gun to turn people to stone...

Now if you said He-Man vs Hordak, I would buy the clear magic vs technology distinction, but not so much with Skeletor. He used what was at his disposal.

Isn't it the other way around, with He-Man being on the side of technology (Man-at-Arms, Mekanek, Syklone) and Skeletor on the side of magic?

Sounds cool but not for nothing; He-Man and the Etherians were the ones with technology on their side and Skeletor (who's a sorcerer) was the one who relied on magic.

I think the one good thing that the original movie did was drop the whole secret identity/prince adam thing. I would like to see them do that here...oh, and not go to earth. The other movie is great if you watch the first 10 minutes and the last 20.
