Heroes writer tapped for “Day One” pilot

Heroes writer Jesse Alexander will write the pilot for NBC’s “Day One,” the Hollywood Reporter has announced.

The series is about a band of survivors trying to rebuild society and discover the meaning behind a worldwide cataclysmic event.

While the plot may sound a bit familiar, there’s a strong shot for some early buzz, considering Alexander has also been behind shows like Lost and Alias.

Okay…it may end up being a great show but this tiny blurb makes it sound like NBC is redoing the CBS show Jericho. I hope they have more success than their redo of Knight Rider.

“A bit familiar”?! It’s a wholsesale rip-off of Survivors, which just ran for six very successful episodes in Britain.

And before Jericho there was Straczynski’s Jeremiah, which ended much too early (partway thru Season Two, if I recall correctly).
