Dakota Fanning in New Moon

The New Moon casting rumors have been floating around ever since Twilight broke, so I’m not surprised to hear yet another one. But I determined that this one was blog-worthy because, well, it’s Dakota Fanning.

Child actors usually go through that awkward phase where they don’t really fit into any roles, but the previews from Fanning’s latest, the superhero movie Push, have her maintaining her eerie presence while adding a certain something. She looks awkward, yet comfortable in her own skin.

The role of Jane in New Moon (and the other Twilight sequels) isn’t exactly a nuanced one. She’s a young vampire with an ability to inflict intense pain on others just by smiling creepily at them. So Fanning might well be a perfect choice, since she’s got the looking-otherworldy bit down without having to work very hard at it.

But the character also has a twin brother, and where on earth are the producers going to find an actor who looks enough like Fanning?

(This is what I get for diving into Hollywood rumor mills.)

Dakota Fanning fits the role perfectly. New Moon has very big expectations to live up too, and I know with the talented cast they should be able to pull it off. Most of the movie buzz will be about this series until the final movie, Breaking Dawn, due 2010. I recomend checking Stephanie Meyers website for any information regarding any of the movies. She’s on the ball all the time, and has never once mentioned Dakota even though I pray the roll goes to her.

Dakota Fanning wasn’t my first thought when I considered who Jane might be. They need to pick a fresh face, I don’t think she has the evilness in her face to be Jane.

Dakota is not right for this part she is way to young and it will be a bad movie if she is in it i dont think they should give the part to her. They should find someone with real talent and not Dakota.

she is not the jane i pictures

1 she isn’t evil enough looking lol
2 she is not brunette (i understand that they can dye it but still)
3 they need a fresh face
4 she doesn’t look like the type to inflict pain on someone

  5. Natalie Says:

Age doesnt matter at all. People are talented for all ages and Jane is a blodne not a brunette
