If, like me, you are unabashedly unapologetic over your happiness at the return of Lost, then I direct you to one of my favorite online columns: Doc Jensen at Entertainment Weekly (EW.com). Jensen, who has penned a comic or two in his time, in addition to his fine pop culture reportage for that magazine and website, composes entertaining odes to Lost on (frequently more than a) weekly basis when the show is running. Though a number of sites and blogs do the same thing, Jensen clearly has a ball with it. He digs into the literary, film, and mythological relish with high-octane geekdom. It’s a joy to behold. And if you like the show, you should dig. Besides, when I start writing up the Post-Games for this season on the Newsarama Mothership, it will give everyone another thing against which to compare me negatively. See? I’m full-service.

Thanks for the heads-up, Troy! LOST rules, and Doc Jensen rules… Next Wednesday cannot get here fast enough.
Oh, and I’m thinking about finally registering for the main site, just so I can set the record straight to a few people posting on the Marc Guggenheim interview. There are people there who somehow have the idea that Lost has been padding itself with “filler” episodes trying to extend the run of the series past its shelf date, even though Lindelof & Cuse successfully negotiated an end date with ABC before last season even started.
Last season (season 4) was arguably their best one yet, and I’m expecting seaosn 5 to be every bit as good. With only 34 episodes left, the answers should start coming pretty quickly, though I’m happy to wait a bit. The journey has been totally worth it. Never has a TV show captured my imagination quite like Lost has.

Jenson’s columns are the absolute nuts and always get me pumped for Lost. As mentioned, the research he does is nothing short of brilliant. The columns are always thoroughly enjoyable and contain the right balance of sense and wackiness.

Yeah… I’m not sure what I think of Doc’s current wacky theory regarding the “Aaron mis-direction,” but it’s the kind of thing that keeps me coming back for more.

Hey Troy, thanks for the shoutout to Doc Jensen! Since you’re a big Jensen fan, just wanted to give you a heads up that he’s premiering a web show on EW.com Jan. 28 – it’s going to be at http://www.ew.com/lostvideo. Hope you’ll check it out!
