Tom Welling Flying into Smallville Season 9?

January 7th, 2009
Author Lucas Siegel

TV Rumor monger Michael Ausiello is back with his first Ask Ausiello column of the year, an he has some surprising news about Smallville:

Question: Any news as to whether Tom Welling has signed on for another season of Smallville? — Scarlett
Ausiello:
Yes, there’s news, and it’s good. Some would even call it, ahem, super. According to a well-placed Smallville insider, Welling is nearing a deal to return for a ninth season. I’m told they’re just ironing out some minor deal points, such as should the Brinks Truck pull into the actor’s driveway, or just unload on the street.

Now, the possibility of a ninth season was in heavy doubt earlier this year, but with a return to the Superman mythos, including new exploration by Clark, the coming of Doomsday and soon The Legion of Superheroes, and of course, the best ratings the show has seen in the last few years, it appears season 9 is a go, and Tom Welling is ready to stay with the show.

The bigger question now is, where do they go from here? With the coming of The Legion, Clark will know with absolute certainty of his destiny as Superman. He’s now been in Metropolis primarily for a couple of years, and several characters from the DCU, including other heroes of the Justice League have already shown up (Green Arrow was even made a main character this season). And, of course, Tom Welling is himself over 30 now. The logical step would be to have him actively becoming Superman, as has been hinted this season, but would change the fundamental premise of the show and go against the show creators’ “No Tights, No Flights” credo. With their departure at the end of last season, however, it seems like the show may well be on its way to presenting a live action Superman on TV for the first time since 1997.

  1. Dwight Williams Says:

Time to rename the series Metropolis, maybe?

  2. DaVeO Says:

    Pleaaaase give us Superman!

  3. NeoSamurai Says:

if Welling ain’t gonna wear the costume, there really is no reason to have a 9th season of smallville.

  4. GreatGuyGardner Says:

yeah…Smallville’s barely been the focus of this show in quite some time now…

a name change would cause a lot of people to possibly give the show another look

  5. Jason Says:

I think they should call season 9 the “final season” right from the start and use the episodes to craft an ending that’s true to the original vision for how the show would end. Let him become Superman in the last scene and end it there…after that it really becomes a whole new show.

At that point explore using the Smallville continuity to continue the film franchise or make what would have been Season 10…into Season 1 of a brand new “Superman” series. Realistically…after 9 years I think they’ll have a hard time keeping Tom Welling around much longer which is a whole other risk of continuing a series.

My ideal after Season 9 would be…use the Smallville continuity to bring Welling to the big screen as Superman, and develop a “Justice League” series for the CW that occurs in the same universe using the actors and characters already established on the show…with Welling as a guest star on occasional episodes.

  6. Sano Says:

I dunno man Clark needs to go to College. How can Superman run around just with a High School Diploma? For Season 9 they should do a 4 year jump. Lois is established as a top reporter, the actor who played Perry White comes back and Clark did his college stint already. Oh and DJ Grayson becomes a recurring character word! :P

  7. Mega Gear X Says:

THOSE show creators are gone. The new creators don’t have to abide by the “No tights, no flights” rule.

Just have him become Superman already. At this point, Clark will be in his thirties before he puts on the cape.

  8. Acathla Says:

    Awesome news!!

  9. Brandon Yates Says:

With a movie rehaul in the works, no way will they have Welling play Superman in the ninth season of a pop-culturally stale show. But for those of you still watching, it’s definitely good news that it’s probably coming back. I stopped watching years and years ago.

  10. Tabitha Viselli Says:

Not necessary to put him on tights with design blue and red but they can put him in tights in different design way. after all, Smallville is “Elseworlds”. so he can wear any tights differently with S instead blue and red design costume same as comic book.

Production Movie did not want him wear same costume. so Tom Welling can wear “S” with different design way. I am sure TV Show producers can find a way to make him turn into Superman.

  11. Hypestyle Says:

they must get into the Superman mythos more heavily next season, and have the full costume in the final 3 episodes…

  12. Jorell Rivera Says:

Come on Tom, it’s not like you have anything better going on.

  13. Rev. O.J. Flow Says:

Seeing as a Superman movie ain’t happening ANYTIME soon that I know of (2012 at this point sounds generous unless some MAJOR news comes down the pike in the next 6 months), I have absolutely no problem with the true Man of Steel being committed to television.

    “Bring it on!!!” :D

  14. Brian Who Likes Airplanes Says:

I would love to see them call this show Metropolis, and then have it run for another 8 years, and then change it to Train Station, and have it be about an eclectic group of 20-somethings who hang out in a wacky train station.

  15. Raverbane Says:

Seeing as the earliest we could possibly see a Superman movie would be 2012. Have Welling do Clark for the 9th (and final) season of Smallville and have that lead into Welling playing Superman in 2012.

  16. Lemurion Says:

No tights, no flights is one of the major reasons I’ve avoided the show more often than not. So I hope it has gone by the wayside.

  17. 1AvidFan Says:

I see no problem with Clark finally embracing the Superman mantle in his 30’s. Generally, after your teens and 20’s people decide on a career path.

  18. jb Says:

    Bring on Superman!!!

  19. Patricio Says:

Tom Welling should ask 1+ million per episode from now on and prepare for retirement, his image is so tied to Smallville that he is in danger to become a new Adam West.

  20. Deadshot77 Says:

I think the series should continue as “METROPOLIS” and build on the great job they are doing this season.

  21. theBEAST311 Says:

BOOYA!!!!!!!! I hope TOM does sign up for the 9th season, SO far this season is one of the best. I just wish they had more LANA & CLARK together cuz’ I like them as a couple! I bet that DARKSEID will be the villian for season 9. I just have that feeling. If they can do DOOMSDAY…why not DARKSEID? (((Oo)))

  22. Joseph Says:

Lot of good ideas posted above, I’m convinced the producers will not wind up doing any of them. I particularly like the idea of a four year jump between seasons 8 and 9, with Clark out of college and starting back at the Daily Planet.

  23. jason1kent Says:

Naturally if they had waited, it could have led straight into a Supes movie, would have been cool, Maybe introducing Conner Kent would be interesting!!!!!!

  24. Tom Fitzpatrick Says:

“Always leave the party, while it’s still roaring …
That way, you leave with only the good memories …”

Jeph Loeb - Challengers of the Unknown

Would Kal-El fly already! It’s the last super-power he’s yet to develop.

  25. randyb. Says:

He’ll probably fly before the end of this season but they’ll never do the full suit. Odds are good next season he’ll be actively doing the superman thing full-on only doing the Man of Steel thing (at the beginning of MoS it hints/shows that Clark was actively saving people in Metropolis and elsewhere before wearing the suit, and only started using the costume after saving the shuttle and almost getting snapped in a photo) where he’s moving so fast no one can really get a good look at who or what it is, as they’ve hinted this season already with the “red and blue blur”. Odds are good the closest we’ll get to him in the costume is him ripping open his shirt to reveal the S in the final episode- which is sad really considering I think Welling is the natural successor to the Superman role and fits the part perfectly. he got the ringing endorsement from Reeve before he died and that’s good enough for me.

  26. klemy Says:

They should rename the show Smallville: Man of Steel

Clark should become superman but without tights (new variation of suit)

The last episode should show him fly.

Though show is good, they should get Michael Rosenbaum back to do some cameo.

  27. andyk Says:

PUHLEEEEESE Let us see him in costume..!
The show is so close to being a Superman in Metropolis show now..dont make us wait any longer..
    Tom deserves a costume!

  28. 1logan Says:

    Smallville is Clark…Clark is Smallville!

  29. Danielle Ni Dhighe Says:

Great! I need another season of my “Smallville” fix, and I want to see Welling in The Costume even if only once at the end of the final episode. It doesn’t even have to be the full costume, just seeing Clark rip open his shirt to reveal the S would be enough to make me happy.

  30. Tucker Says:

The show should be renamed “Superman”. (Simple, direct, and surprisingly the first time ever a Superman series would be named so succinctly.) Or call it “Man of Steel”.

  31. samfish Says:

Rename is to Metropolis, bring Lex back and make him become Superman and I’ll support another season of Smallville…otherwise, it’s just time to put it out to pasture.

  32. Ortiz Says:

You know how I see the final scene in the final episode? In the last season, Clark realize he has to become something bigger, most important for the world, more proactive; in the last episode, in the aftermath of the BIG fight, he leaves Smallville to pursue his destiny; then, we are transported to Metropolis, some years later, Clark is walking by the street, wearing glasses, when suddenly, people scream, and in the roof of a building someone is about to fall, while everyone is staring to the guy, Clark rushes to an alley, directly to the screen, takes off his glasses and open his shirt, and the last image is a big S in his chest and a sound like *swosh*, and that’s it, because we all know what that means. Peace.

  33. Mike Says:

    Great news!!!
…tptb should let Clark finally flying! …and he needs to wear
the cape / costume! (at least in the final episode).

Season 8 so far has been fantastic. Exciting storylines, great
special-effects and a wonderful cast (especially TOM)!

WB should finally try to use the complete “Smallville” series
like a “pilot” for an upcoming Superman movie!
    (TOM as Clark/Superman/Kal + Michael Rosenbaum/Lex, Erica/Lois
    etc.).

Just take a look, what the writers of this show made out of
BRAINIAC, ZOD, the HOUSE OF EL and the Kryptonian history!

    I love SMALLVILLE!

imo, since the “passing of the torch” from Christopher Reeve to
Tom Welling (in episode # 2.17 “Rosetta”), Tom should be Clark/
    Kal-El/Superman in the movies too!!!

…WB could “relaunch” the series (instead of a season 9 of
“Smallville” we could get a season 1 of “Metropolis”. The story
could be placed a few years after Smallville’s season 8).

btw: “Smallville” is not only the name of Clarks hometown. Even
with most of the story now placed in Metropolis, the name
“Smallville” makes sense, because it’s the nickname for Clark
    given to him by Lois!

  34. Joe Says:

with all due respect to the fans (and I know I’ll get a lot of flack for this) but this show needs to end. Don the cape and boots or end it. Period.

  35. Michael Says:

As long as Smallville is alive we wont have to ever worry about Superman becoming Stupid and boring like the dark knight

  36. n1ghtriver Says:

God, cant belive this show is still on. Theyve pretty much done all of Superman’s villains before he even is Superman. When he finally becomes Superman, hes gonna stand there and say “Hmm…..now what?”

  37. BookWyrm Says:

Oh, for Prime’s sake, END THE SERIES ALREADY!

  38. Ray Feignedy Says:

The best part about this is that the season can be used as a launching pad for a Green Arrow/Justice series ( Much like “The Practice” becoming “Boston Legal” or “JAG” launching “NCIS”). With the JLA and GA movies both on hold there’s no hold up.

With more action focus the PTB at TheCW might finally be convinced to Green Light the show!

  39. Darrin Kemp Says:

I was a fan early on,but by season four I was looking for the exit. At that point the stories started to get better. Then they introduced Green Arrow. This impressed me as a somewhat happy compromise seeings as they could’nt use Batman for somewhat dubious reasons. Justin Hartley did for Oliver Queen what Peter Wingfield did with Methos.Namely create a compelling character out of what could have been a major train wreck.I say give him his own show.

  40. Bruce Wayne Says:

Hey, when will I show up?

  41. Newhouse75 Says:

your a bunch of idiots and know nothing about superman.Tom Welling may be in his 30s but clark kent is like 21 or 22 in the series and everyone knows when he does become superman it takes jor-el 12 years to return him back to earth when he finally starts his training.Seriously i have loved Superman for 28 of my 33 tears on this planet and i cannot believe you who claim to be superman fans would be this ignorant to the storyline, even though it has been changed to match the times a little.first off lois has seen clark without glass what cheap tactic would you have the cw use to make that disappear quickly perhaps hge can take lois to the fortress as well and have jor-el completely erase her memory=NOTTTTTTT.They have announced this season that tess mercer will have new editor and chief and it is not perry white so dp you want to rush that as well so you can fullfill your costume fantasies. The show is called smallville and it is about young clark kent not superman, so turn off the boob tube, look to other things. another superman series will surface sooner or later it is timeless and stop makeing fools of yourselves with stupid empty theories. Go out and get laid or something. madonna mia GET A LIFEEEEEEEEEEEE

  42. mbrady Says:

    >>Go out and get laid or something. madonna mia GET A LIFEEEEEEEEEEEE<<

I always love to hear from people living in places where irony has not yet been discovered.

  43. Newhouse75 Says:

well Brady if you think Chicago is a place behind the times with your irony comment then perhaps you like live in the future where like Chicago is a backwards community i get your comment im on the blog too and Im commenting too. ill assure you of this, that i do not spend my days and nights debating on theories. I just watch and see what happens.Anywho

  44. ArabellaValentine Says:

They should end smallville, then start a new series with the same actors and call it “Metropolis” then it would be OK ;)

  45. joe Says:

So what about batman? Anyone think there’s a chance of introducing him at some point? I mean it’s obvious that they’re trying to make the green arrow into the batman character, but that’s a load of balogna. I mean when do they meet in the comics. I’ve always known them to be best friends in the books and wish they could pu all this legal mumbo jumbo aside and do what’s right for the faithful fans that allow you to even keep making this show.
I also don’t really want Clark to wear the same costume. I really don’t think it plays well in this day and age. They should still use the color scheme and the S is absolutely a must. Maybe stched in the back of a red leather jacket so he can fit in with the rest of the Justice league outfits.
I just got back into the show though, does anyone know any facts about this whole costume/batman thing?

  46. Elle Says:

I agree with some of the other posters here. He should leave after Season 9, then when the movie comes out, there can be a ‘time jump’ and ta-da! Superman! Weeeeee!

  47. dana Says:

awesome!!! i cant wait i’ll keep watching this show untill the very end best show ever!!

  48. Donovan Says:

Its time give us a Superman and take smallville in to a new direction

  49. Geri Says:

There’s a lot to say about this, but with “two” words.
If they don’t make him Superman, what was the point of the whole show?! Yes I know that it is about Clark before he becomes Superman, but becoming Superman, that is very natural to finally happen! The hero that he becomes is the whole point and if they don’t make him wear that costume, for what was the whole show? For what we’ve watched it for so long? I don’t care if they make a new series with a different name, just make him Superman! We haven’t seen that kind of show for years. “Lois and Clark - The new adventures…” were great, but we need a new costume here :)
Since the first episode I’ve been withing and waiting to see him in that costume, but still nothing is for sure which is so irritating! And plus, they already are late, he should be Sumerman already as I know from the cartoons, films and stuff…
And furthermore he should also fly a lot earlier!
So please make him Superman already, cause all this postponing is getting SUPER ridiculous!!!

  50. SupermanAfficionado Says:

    newhouse75

wth are you talking about? when did jor-el train superman besidse the movie? smallville isn’t part of the movie continuity, so get your facts straight…idiot.

  51. Stuart Wall Says:

As for the costume, I would have: red cape and boots as before, but the boots should be a bit of a darker red. Then normal black shiny trousers, tight but not skintight. Then the shirt should start as dark blue at the waist and lighten to the old bright blue as it approaches the neck, with the S as before. This would make him more modern, more stylish, but still colourful enough to represent goodness and virtue.

  52. Rob Ward Says:

I would like there to be a 9th season, so far season 8 has being brilliant. They do however need to change him into superman, superboy has being here long enough.

  53. Steve Says:

Season 8 has been unbelievable. I am really pumped that he decided to do the 9th season. I think that’ll be all they need to wrap it up. Hopefully this show doesnt ruin tom wellings image because I would love to see him in more movies.

  54. General Zod Says:

    @ Newhouse75:

at 28 years, I then have a few on you and you should understand this.

At what point does the Smallville show factor into the Superman continuity in the first place? What about Superboy, Krypto, Lori Lamaris, and all the other characters that had their own comics in the 60s? What with the abundance of kryptonite? Not to mention there was no Lionel Luthor, Chloe Sullivan, Senator Kent, and all of the other characters and villains that are part of the Superman legacy and not the Superboy dynasty.

Get over yourself. It’s a TV show!!! In the late 80’s John Byrne convinced DC comics to restart the Superman series and tell everything again in the beginning because there WERE so many incontinuities in the comics and storyline. That’s exactly what WB did with this show. Yes they have taken a lot of liberties with the Superman mythology, but overall it has been a pleasant experience. Evolution of fictional characters and their storyline is a necessary part of continuing a legacy. If not, we would still be watching “Superman vs the Mole Men”.

Next time you want to spout your mouth off, know your facts.

  55. tom Says:

i think that if they do seson 9 it will be a hit.theh should also do a seson 1o

  56. robert harris Says:

This show could be really exciting, especially if they introduce superman, but then again pigs may fly.

These 4 boofhead of producers are worse than gough and miller, they have no idea what so ever of how to end smallville, arrogance coupled with stupidity will be the name given to these producers.

  57. Jay Says:

I think that Smallville is already over, I would hate to see CW Network turn fans away from the Series disgusted by bringing on season 9. We deserve the magical end we have been waiting 8 years for! Bring on the tights, & Cape! Let him fly! THe last episode is called: DOOMSDAY!!! May 14th 2009, what kind of Doomsday would it be without SUPERMAN?!!! The show has constantly neglected Clark his rights & abilities to FLY! That is lame! I got pretty much sick of the TITLE since the end of season 6! Season 7 was ok, but it should have ended there! Season 8 is barely grasping my attention because I knew it was coming to an end! Well now Season 9??? They aren’t even in SMALLVILLE anymore! End the series, start a spin off called Metropolis! But give us our END! We deserve that! Ask Gough and Millar back for final episode! I just want this show to be finished either way, but a happy LONG AWAITED ending! Since all but 2 years it has been almost a decade! That is a pretty good run for a 1 hour series. I haven’t seen any Superhero TV last this long! So be grateful it has done well for 8 years! It’s like The Cosby Show! Season 1 was a good start, Seasons 1-6 was the best years! Season 7 a little weaker but very interesting! Season 8 not doing so hot! Don’t get too cocky! The only reason so many are willing to watch season 8 was because we were promised this was a final season! Do you want to LIE to us and give us another CLIFFHANGER and make us say to hell with SMALLVILLE?!!! I won’t be back for Season 9, so end it please! Get a new spinoff! Get him his suit and cape, and revamp the show, make it interesting! Here’s a thought… Take a year or two off, and think creatively how to start a new SERIES, woah, just a thought. Thanks, hope nobody got mad at this idea, Smallville needs to end!

  58. Robert Schuh Says:

Smallville should continue with a season 9 they have done such a excellent job with the show in season 8 it is one of my favorite seasons.they should have Lois fall from like a building where Clark has to be superman & catch her & she doesn’t know that Clark is superman but that she is the only reporter in the Daily Planet that gets a interview with superman so she finds out he is from Krypton & finds out about his powers & later on she finds out that Clark is superman and she realizes she loves Clark more than superman.Lois & Clark should start showing their true feelings toward 1 another & that they tell each other that they love one another and eventually in a season 9 or 10 get married.Erica as Lois is perfect as well as Tom as Clark & superman.I would like more of Lois & Clark together with a romantic relationship which in the last episode showed that Clark loves Lois more than ever.so have Lois & Clark show their true feelings for each other and admit it & see them kiss also.they should have in a season 9 Lois & Clark get married as well as Clark becoming superman in a season 9.justice league would be great also with Chloe helping green arrow.have Lois & Clark become the 2 great team reporters in season 9 also & maybe have Lex come back for a few episodes in season 9.

  59. Robert Schuh Says:

I am not sure but didn’t Jimmy fall for Lucy Lane & if they did fall in love maybe Lucy should come into the show in season 9.Perry White would be a good character in the daily planet so maybe Tess Mercer could stay on the show but hand the planet to Perry white as editor & chief. Lois & Clark make a better couple that are really in love then Lana & Clark.Clark should start to fly in season 9 Smallville is very capable of going to a season 9 & even to a season 10 even if they change the name of the show.Tom is perfect to play superman & even into a superman movie later on or even into a superman TV show.keep Erica & Tom together they are perfect picks for the characters you have chosen them to be & deserve to be in more episodes together.I would like to see more episodes with Lois & Clark together in more episodes Erica deserves to be in more episodes with Clark like being together as the 2 great team reporters for the daily planet.Erica is probably my favorite as well as Allison Mack & Tom Welling,Aaron Ashmore also.Tess Mercer is at the top of the list as well including Justin Hartley.is Annette O’Toole going to make any appearances in season 9.Martha Kent could return for a few episodes and show or tell Clark & make him a superman suit for him & convince him he should have a second identity as superman in a season 8 & 9.

  60. musa omar Says:

I dont care what other people wrote on this website my thoughts are that tom welling should stay for season 9 and that there should not be a season 10 and that in season 9 at the end tom welling wears a cape and becomes superman.Than they should end smallville for a year than make a show called metropolis and clark and lois get to gether

  61. Thorsten Says:

no tights, no flights? I think, i’m done with this. In my opinion its time to move forward now. Clark grew up for 8 years now, and the 9th season should let him turn into superman by mid-season or maybe from the first episode. according to the other seasons, the fight against doomsday will not end until the first episode of the next season and it will definitely have a great audience by the surrounding crowd/city/country/world (or what do you thing how quietly clark will be able to stop him?). if he doesn’t want to reveal his identity to the world he should be costumed to fight him…otherwise i’m very interested in the explanation :-P

I really like this series. not only for the story, the effects or the cast. first of all for the message. I would like to see many more seasons but i also want them to stop it right in time without losing the quality. A Superman-Movie with the series cast would be great but for me, a series does better, because a movie, in my opinion, is much too short ;)

  62. flanbo37 Says:

has no one seen the season 8 trailer on you tube. clark does become superman, tom gets to wear the full superman costume, i think if they do a season nine now they got to go with the superman theme more. and look at doing a superman tv show with tom carrying on his role as clark kent/superman and maybe erica durance can carry on her role as lois lane

  63. roses2826 Says:

i would love to see a season 9 but they have messed up the show so bad already i almost dont want to see it go on.. its so bad sometimes im actually yelling at the tv.. why did u do that??? and chloe needs to go.. she was never part of the movies and she is not in supermans future.. she needs to go and very soon.. im really hoping she either gets killed off tonight in the last episode or moves far far away.. she is a great character but she is not the future.. lois is and they need to get that going and take the focus off chloe!!!

  64. Me Says:

So, the question is, has Tom Welling actually signed for another series now that series 8 has finished?

  65. Hollis Says:

I just dont see where they are going with the show anymore. How in the world can you kill off Jimmy? He is a character in the future! Also, why is the show still so caught up in Chloe? She needs to exit stage right respectively.

The writers for Smallville, in my opinion, have really dropped the ball. This also could be to the limited budge they are using, but that doesnt stray from the point that Clark Kent is now an adult and needs to start embracing himself as Superman. I hate to see Smallville go, but if they arn’t going to focus on his transition into the Superman we all know, they need to kill the show.

  66. ILoveEricaDurance Says:

I don’t care what they do in season 9. Just put Erica Durance in s bikini again! Like in season 5. She is so freaking hot its unreal! A perfect Lois. And way way better than Kristen Kreuk who i think should have been killed off after the 3rd season because Lana was just so bloody annoying!
But Erica, i can watch her again and again and again. What a body. I want to do things to her that i cant necessarily mention her. JUST PUT LOIS IN A BIKINI/ TIGHT CLOTHES IN SEASON 9!

  67. David Says:

The season 8 finally definitely foreshadows a 9th season. I have seen indications that they were ready to change the ending and wrap things up if it was not going to be renewed. I figure Tom Welling has already signed on or is expected to with some little negotiation, because I can not see the CW being stupid enough to try to continue the show after changing the actor portraying the main character.

I have some problems with some of the previous post, but I am glad to see that others have addressed some of them, though they could have been less aggressive. First, while I’d like to see him wear a costume, I think it unlikely unless they do create a new version. This show represents an Alternate Universe (AU) version of the Superman mythos, so a radically different suit is possible. The regular suit won’t work because Clark has not (for all but a couple of episodes) worn glasses, and thus has no adequate as Clark. Additionally, Clark has already said no cape, when he was given one. He should use the S shield, but that too is problematic as it has been shown on chest armor from long ago and was the symbol for Smallville High School (see letterman’s jackets in Seasons 1-4).

Second, while Tom Welling is in his 30’s, Clark is not. You must remember that the show began with Clark and his friends entering high school as freshmen (as evidenced by their graduation at the end of season 4). This would mean after 8 seasons Clark would be around 22 or 23.

Third, the Smallville title is less applicable with most of the show taking place in Metropolis. But I think a name change is premature unless they are changing the focus of the show (like focusing on Oliver’s team becoming the JLA), but as someone has pointed out it is Lois’s nickname for Clark.

Since the show is an AU, there is no reason not to keep Cloe on. I figure Lois will return via the Legion ring and it will be used to save Jimmy retroactively. If not, well it is AU. I think that Clark’s victory over Doomsday was to anti climactic (easy), and that he should return for a rematch. While I’d like to see a Bruce Wayne cameo, I thinks Batman’s costume doesn’t fit with the show’s current look. I do think that they could use someone like the Question, they can always mention rumors of a vigilante in Gotham City. I would like to see some more cameos.

People need to stop hypothesising about what could happen/should happen and see what is actually going to happen. I’m sure if the cast are still there, the story will follow and be OK.

I would say it is time for him to fly since he will be going up against Doomsday. Not only that, but since he is about to embrace who he is then you know he will focus on being able to fly. I would also expect his fortress to be up and running since he would end up living there one would assume.

I also can see him embracing the Justice League now and being a part of the team. My one question is, have we seen the last of Lex Luthor? Tess is starting to get stale and having her be challenged by Lex would be a good twist.

I will finish with Lois and Clark need to hook up somehow, but in this case he is Superman.

Tom elling held together Smallville for nine years! He is the best choice to play uperman on the screen! He would make Warner Brothers millions plus boost up the ratings on Smallville!

  71. mike nimberger Says:

Welling as Superman ? Why not! He’s done a great job keeping Smallville alive 9 years. If Any one else had his job Smallville would be gone ( off the air ) by now! Let’s see him on the big screen.

  72. john summers Says:

Wake up Warner Bros. and smell the coffee! Tom Welling is the best thing that ever hit Superman movies and t.v. shows ever! Let him have a chance to play on the Justice League.

  73. david lee Says:

Tom Welling does’nt have to prove any thing any more! He has done his job very well ( ratings and acting ) so why is’nt he in the Justice League? Jor el can be the story line of how no one can figure out out that Clark and Superman don’t look the same?

  74. steven dunetz Says:

Jor’el can make everyone forget that Clark and Superman look alike! Now he can wear the suit without a mask and wear the Kent glasses!

  75. Hajjen Says:

there are no smallville without tom welling. i dont care if he is 31 or 90 he is the one who runs the hole show. and Smallville is more then the perfect name for the show. bring back Michael Rosenbaum, cuz there are no superman without lex luther. give the world season 9 soon before we all die xD.

  76. steven dunetz Says:

No tights no flights? Not true as of season 9! Clark will fly in the 9th season and if this happens it will bring new viewers in and a new Superman movie!
