JASON FRANKS: Clearwater hasn’t changed much except they fixed up the beach area and walk area really nice in the past few years, so the whole place looks even better. its a great beach, but when i have to beach out, i go to frenchy’s and then head north where there are less people.

LOU: I had a nice trip up to boston a while ago but yeah man, it can get cold. thats why i am down here.

JACOB: honestly i dont have decent scans of the work, otherwise i would. i would love a steve rude issue of jonah hex but i think he is a really busy guy…but you know, when i see him next, i will ask. we have tried to stop commissioning covers for hex because we try to match up the inside artist with the cover as much as we possibly can.

BRUCE: THE SKETCH IS OK…but if it were in my house, i would toss it. does any artist really like their own work? i wonder…

JONAH HEX: You touched on this in the Blog@ thread about WB pausing all DC related movies ( http://blog.newsarama.com/2009/01/08/goyer-dc-movies-on-hold/ ), but I thought I would bring it back here…Taking their time and doing things “right” is so much more preferrable than rushing something mediocre out. With a non A-lister like Jonah Hex we may never get another chance…somebody like Batman or Superman can always get rebooted. And you are absolutely right about Pixar producing the best stories out there…someone from the animation world can definitely do this.

COMMISSIONS: I’ve got a sketch of Monolith’s profile, and I think its great. Little did I know it “sort of sucked”. Now what am I supposed to do with it?! I suppose I’m stuck with it….

Hey Jimmy, that’s very cool of you to commission The Dude’s work since the occasional Rude Dude Productions newsletter apparently indicates he could really use the scratch. My goodness, how cool would it be if Steve Rude drew the interiors of JH or just did a painted cover? Have you considered or talked to Steve about doing a JH fill-in? I know he’s busy with Nexus–and I want to read the long overdue Nexus issues as much as the next guy–but Steve would be an ideal artist (he can draw anything) especially for a western since he lives in AZ like me and only has to step outside to capture some neat desert landscapes.

Maybe in the future you could share pics with us readers of some of the art you have like, say, Steve Rude or Robert McGinnis, but I’d totally understand if you passed because of privacy concerns.

In reference to everyone’s remarks on not kicking Kinski out of bed let me go a step further with “I would, there’s more room on the floor” as the great picture of her you posted points out.

Sorry dude, I love your work but you get no sympathy from me up here in Boston in clod, rain, snow and slush wether while you’re in Florida complaining about the “Blue Hairs ” driving around. Nope sorry not gonna happen.

Damn, I can’t believe it’s two years since I left Clearwater to back Down Under–this article brought back the memories. Man, I remember watching tourists parasailing out of my office window, I remember sneaking down to the beach for a burger at lunch time. I remember the nightmare of trying to get downtown in summer, all that tourist traffic backed up from the old bridge choking Gulf To Bay and Drew St.

I also remember having to answer the question “Where you from, boy?” every single day for five years.

I read this book 20 years ago and I still remember this crap, lol!

SHAUN: Kinski took on a few smaller roles the past 10 years but looks to be focusing more on her family. i saw a photo of her from last year at 46 and she still looks incredible.

VINNIE B: I dont mind the old people driving, but they should just stay in the slow lane is all.

KEN O: hey ken, you may have paid a lot for the action figure, but i have only signed 3 of them ever, so really…just pull a pair of shoes out of her closet and ask her when the last time she wore them was…you get the picture. we all do stupid things.

Yeah, for the Hex movie, from a director standpoint, I don’t care too much as long as the person is good and understands storytelling. Much like comics beautiful drawings are great but if you can’t tell a story, it is crap. Sequentials and storytelling are key. Otherwise you end up with something like Mission Impossible II where the movie was pretty much built around stunts rather than story. Story will be key.

And maybe the Hex comic will finally get some support and notice. Every first Weds. of the month this book is clockwork gold.

Steve’s blog is top-notch–I had a lot of fun reading his stuff. I noticed that you mentioned that you watched Slumdog Millionaire on Facebook as well–I’m going to be checking out this week or next.

Watch ‘The Wrestler’ when you can–Mickey Rourke…who’d a known, man?!?

Also, I’m glad someone else liked Singer’s efforts on Valkyrie as much as I did. My roommate and I marveled at how re-watchable that movie is going to be for years to come; and Cruise didn’t steal the show one bit.

Last but not least, hope you were able to check out my cousin’s animation stuff on his website. He’s going to be doing some little “web-based content” for some of my creator-owned stuff this next year. He’s uber-talented and up the road a couple of hours from you.

I hope we can have lunch at MegaCon this year. I should have a couple new comics to give you as well.

Looking forward to seeing you both at WWLA! Just noticed you would both be there this year. We just saw Valkryie the other day and really liked it. But it paled in comparison to Let The Right One In and The Wrestler. Please seek out Let The Right One In as it is the best movie of the year. Watched Gojira in bed last night and thought of you. I still dont believe Godzilla can talk!

I live in the FL panhandle (as my hubby calls it, Lower Alabama). Raccoons, check. Squirrels, check. Turtles, check. Racer snakes, check. Buzzards, red hawks, woodpeckers – got ‘em all. And one day a couple of years ago I got buzzed by a young bald eagle. We also see armadillos, rabbits, opossums … and although I haven’t had an encounter (yet), we have black bears in our vicinity as well.

I was driving down the back roads near Christmas Fl a few years back. I was behind a really beat up old pickup truck. There is no back gate to the thing. It his a bump in the road and an 5 foot alligator falls out onto the road and starts heading for the ditch. Gotta love living in Fl.

Can’t wait for more Hex news. My wife still teases me about how much I paid for that Hex figure you signed for me at the last Heroes Jimmy. We saw it for 15 buck two days after the con.

Florida is chock-full of people WAY past the age where they should stop driving. My Mother-in-Law lives down there, and not a week goes by without a story about some alte-cocker driving up an off-ramp and going a good ten minutes the wrong way on the Florida Parkway.
